You all have no human decency
Would you lie to save another guys job? Someone you work with but don't really know?

Sure, unless it was dangerous to do so.

For example, I wouldn't do it if I worked in a hospital. (just an example, any job can be dangerous for someone, or maybe the lying would be dangerous for my own job. Etc!)

Way to vague of a question to really be answered. Does the lie have the possibility of coming back to bite me? Is my lie to cover for a co-worker who endangered others by whatever 'fire-worthy' act he did? Is he otherwise a good employee who made a mistake or is it a constant thing? Largely impossible to answer that question without more to go on except to say 'Yes, under certain circumstances'...which I assume will be the answer you'll get from everyone.

Depends. If it was something trivial that didn't really affect anything, but might get him fired because of a supervisor who applies policy too strictly, I might.

If it was anything like a violation of the law, a really awful treatment of a customer, a serious breach of policy or safety standards, not pulling his weight, or anything of the sort, then I wouldn't.

I would, as in, there's probably a scenario in which I'd lie to save someone's job, but in reality, I probably wouldn't ever do that.

What kind of lie are we talking about?

If its like embezzlement, or a to cover up a crime, then heck no.

If its something like covering for someone so they can do something personal, then probably.

I'm a firm believer in pwnge so in most cases no. Because if your getting laid off due to downsizing, then I can't really help you. If your being fired because of misconduct or bad performance, then its really your fault.

However, if you are getting fired because your manager just does not like you(because you refuse to sleep with them or something), then I will try to help you.

It depends. I would not cover up poor job performance or violations of regulations, for example.

Ditto. Might do a favor for a long term friend in a spot of bad luck, but wouldn't cover up something dangerous/illegal, and really wouldn't want a loser hanging on.

i did it recently.... she was a worker in another company...and made some mistakes... but i lied to help her stay in her job as i believe its an "honest mistake" :P

This is exactly how I feel.

No. I don't know them. Unless it was something trivial. I'm assuming you mean something important that could implicate me in it if I do lie.

In very extreme circumstances only, if he just wants to skive or can't do his job properly then he deserves to go.

Probably, but rarely. I wouldn't see myself personally asking someone else to do so, though, and would have a hard time thinking of scenarios where it would be appropriate.

Spontaneously I would say no, but unfortunate there are probably circumstances that would make me lie for a co-worker.
