Switching City Build Queues
Hi, Folks,
I have a quick question. I've seen a lot of people talk about doing city build queue management, as in building starting to build something, then starting to build something else, and then switching back to the first thing before the second thing finishes. Is there a way to raise or lower a specific thing in a city's build queue? Thanks for the help, Winnihym |

Not directly. However, any hammers accumulated toward a build are maintained even if the item is removed from the build queue completely. Thus, you can clear everything out and enqueue them in the desired order.

You can remove just 1 or 2 items and place them where you want without clearing the ENTIRE queue. Holding SHIFT while you select an item sends it to the bottom of the list, holding CTRL while you select an item sends it to the top of the list.
You cannot remove the last item from the list (to make it so you are building nothing), but once you place a second item anywhere in the list you can remove the thing you are currently working on. The progress you generated toward building it will be maintained, but it DOES slowly degrade over time, so you want to get as close to complete as you can, and if your strategy requires you wait a REALLY long time to finish it, check back periodically to make sure the build time remains 1 turn. And as long as I am talking about the queue, I'll mention that holding ALT while you click on an item sends it to the list with a * by the name, indicating that once it is comlpeted it will be re-assigned in the city at the bottom of the queue. Thus if you have a single item building with this mark it will build forever. But if you have two items (say... a Hawk & Hunter) it will continually build them in alternation. (So for those people who like to build Warrior/Warrior/Settler/Repeat early game, you can set up an automatic cycle to handle it)

Is there a way to save a build queue, and then apply it to newly built cities? I think I remember using it at one point, but I'm not sure anymore.

Line up the Queue in one of your cities, and while in city view, hit CTRL+{any number}. Then if you hit that number while viewing a city anytime later it will queue up the exact same order (skipping any items it isn't capable of constructing, like a Harbor or whatnot)
