when in game, the interface is gone!

when playing "road to war" mod, the interface is gone. after the game loads, the interface on the bottom is gone so i cant build anything or do anything as a matter of fact. i dont know how to bring it back. and also, it always starts in the "technology advisor" blank window and i have to exit first to see the map. this happens when i start a new game or load a saved game.

any ideas?

i have a hp laptop...
here are the stats:
AMD athlon 64x2 1.7ghz
2gb of ram
nvidia 7150m
vista 32bit

is this game patched?
did you install and patch the game with admin rights?

yes i did install the patch correctly...
it used to not do this, but suddenly started doing this...i dont think i changed anything either...

please open your civilizationIV.ini and set all items with log in their name from 0 to 1 then start a game until the problem occurs (try opening as many faulty screens as possible) then exit the game and post your logs here as a zip file

also: just to make sure: Vista acts up if you do not run the installers as administrator - just installing them with an admin account does not always do - you need to rightclick on them and choose run as administrator to ensure correct installation in some cases....

i noticed that this only occurs in the "road to war" mod that came with bts. when i play other mods or regular games its alright. i dont think i have changed the mod either...
any ideas?

oh and to ori: sorry but im not really good with computers. how do i open civilizationIV.ini? i appreciate your help though!!

the civilizationIV.ini is located in
my games\beyond the sword\
just open it with any text editor
search for
log
and change all items that have that from 0 to 1
save the file
start a game - reproduce the problem (load the mod etc.)
after closing the game post all files in
my games\beyond the sword\logs as a zip file

I have seen this error multiple times here already - mostly it was some sort of problem with the install... the mod itself is not broken on my machine...

sorry am i missing sometohing? i dont see the civilizationiv.ini file in the bts folder...
could it be another name? or diff folder?
its not civ4config is it?

you have two folders:
\program files\firaxis games\sid meier's civilization 4\beyond the sword
and
\documents and settings\<username>\my documents\my games\beyond the sword
the .ini is in the latter - and if the game starts up at all it is there...
