Football (American) - The Coming Season
I'm an on-and-off US Football fan, but haven't really watched it for the past couple of years. Mainly because it's moved to satellite television, which I don't have.
This year, however, I'm going to make an effort and follow the season - my team is the Dolphins, BTW. I would be grateful if any of you Yanks could fill me in what has been happening in the off-season, and the major news for the coming season - favourites, predicted MVPs, etc. Also, what are the chances of the Dolphins making the play-offs? Thanks in advance

Dolphins usually fare well, Their divison looks tough though. This year the Bills should be stronger with the aquisition of Bledsoe, On paper the Jets are very strong, and if the Colts can get there act together, Look out. Can the Patriots repeat? Regardless, they will still be tough. Good luck Miami

Buffalo have acquired Beldsoe eh? Interesting.
Another question to be added: Which of the QBs are predicted to be the best/most influential etc., and is the young chap at the Patriots taking over now. Can't remember his name, came in last season and did well.....brain's hurting...nope, can't remember. Perhaps someone willl enlighten me?

Try www.cnnsi.com for football info, they have a pretty good set of reporters over there for football news. But we are always happy to help. GO RAMS!

The Dolphins are my favorite pro team too and they should make it to the playoffs. This year one of the big changes is they changed the conferences into 4 divisions each, to accomodate the Houston Texans.
My Guesses: Donovan McNabb - MVP Jeremy Shockey - Rookie of the Year Oakland vs Philadelphia - Super Bowl

Here's the NFL's Web site, if you haven't already bookmarked it. And ESPN does a pretty good job with its site.
Pillager, your 'Fins aren't looking so hot. QB Jay Fiedler can't find his receivers, and new RB Ricky Williams (from New Orleans, if you missed that trade) can't find a hole to run through. But I'm hoping they'll improve -- they've been a favorite of mine for a long time. The NFL's best QBs (in no particular order): Kurt Warner, St. Louis Rams; Jeff Garcia, San Francisco 49ers; Peyton Manning, Indianapolis Colts; Donovan McNabb, Philadelphia Eagles; Brett Favre, Green Bay Packers; Aaron Brooks, New Orleans Saints. |

Well, I'm with Flatlander Fox on the Go Rams part. The Rams are my favorite team. I'm not too sure about the MVP's, but I do think the Rams will do well, but won't win the Super Bowl. I don't really have any predictions except for that one. I mean, the Bears might win it. Their team isn't too bad.

I love the Blue Collar teams. The ones that play in the dirt, outdoors in rain and snow, in tough towns, like Chicago, Green Bay, Cleveland, Pittsburgh. Towns where the fans are as tough as the players. bareknuckle, beer guzzling brawlers. Football is a tough sport, passing is for sissies, or the 2 minute warning. Run the ball, run the ball, kick for three. 4 yards and a cloud of dust.

It makes me sound like a girl, but I don't like the Rams - I cheered for them when they won the super bowl, but the next season they changed the yellow of their jerseys to gold. Ugly! Bring back the yellow.

I think their jersey's look better then before. Their old ones looked ugly to me.

The Rams jersey looked the best when it was in Los Angelas, covered with grass stains and and on Jack Youngblood

Last year, Marino was one of the hosts of HBO's football show. I'm assuming he's back. (HBO is a U.S. cable channel, which means you pay for it. It shows mostly movies and its own original program and, from time to time, boxing.)
