After giving some more thought to Naskra's question, I think that clarification is needed. The Virginia militiamen in question knew that a continental congress had been planned, but they were not aware of any results of that congress or if it had actually been convened.

That sounds likely - imagine a time when the only way any news travelled was by gossip.

It would seem that either nobody has an answer to my question or nobody is interested and the 72 hours are almost up. So here is the answer.

The Fort Gower Address was issued by officers of the Virginia colonial militia after Lord Dunmore signed the treaty of Camp Charlotte which ended Lord Dunmore’s War with the Shawnee and Mingo Indian tribes. It is not known who attended the meeting, but those present at Fort Gower at the time, and who probably participated in the meeting, include George Rogers Clark, Daniel Morgan, Michael Cresap, Simon Kenton, Simon Girty, Daniel Boone, and William Crawford. They were angered because the Indians had not been soundly defeated prior to the treaty.
They questioned the governor’s motives, especially since tensions between Britain and the colonies were heating up. Fort Gower was located in present day Ohio on the Hocking River near its confluence with the Ohio River. Shortly after the meeting at Fort Gower the document was carried to a newspaper in Williamsburg and published in The Virginia Gazette. Among other statements The Fort Gower Address stated,
"... But as for the love of Liberty, and attachment to the real interests and just rights of America outweigh every other consideration, we resolve that we will exert every power within us for the defense of American liberty, and for the support of her just rights and privileges; not in any precipitate, riotous, or tumultuous manner, but when regularly called forth by the unanimous voice of our countrymen ...".
Considered by some (not many) historians to be the first declaration of independence, The Fort Gower Address was adopted on Nov. 5, 1774, six months before the events at Lexington and Concord and eighteen months prior to the Declaration of Independence of July 4, 1776.

The floor is open.
