Civ IV Complete
Appologies in advance if this has been answered previously (I did a search and found bits of answers in several threads so I'd just like to get everything confirmed in one go).
I've just bought Civ IV Complete, previously only having Civ IV vanilla and have a few questions. 1) Patches: what patches should I install, and how? (I tried patching BtS but it failed - I gather from other threads I should download the patch separately and install it manually. Do I need to do the same for Warlords and Vanilla?) 2) My original Civ IV: can I copy my old mods and saves over to my new Complete folders, or will the patches/changes screw things up? On a lighter note: 3) Damn Boudica's hot! [Gets disaproving looks from Hatshepsut]. 4) Viking Berzerkers. Seriously, WTF Machinary and Civil Service? "Ah yes, Mr Skullsplitter. If you just fill in these forms, I can issue with your new mech-axes. And don't forget to keep a record of any plunder you acquire." Are there any mods or suggestions for more appropriate prerequesites? |

1) patches are best downloaded separately.
2)Nope, you need new versions because of all the updates and changes in BTS 3) ![]() 4) Regular macemen have the same requirements, I don't see whats wrong unless Maces were different in Vanilla (never played Vanilla, so enlighten me )

If you have BtS then you don't need any patches for either vanilla or Warlords. There have been no patches for either since that XP came out and it includes the latest for them. The only patch you'll need is the 3.17 one for BtS.

As to moding it, I'm thinking berzerkers would probably make most sense as an Axe or Swordsman replacement (with power suitibly reduced), although that would probably make them too early to be historically accurate (as it is they're too late). Maybe as a Pikeman replacement, but keeping their own bonuses. Although that might be unbalancing as the Vikings would lose a lot of anti-cavalry defence. Although it could make for some interesting tactics changes (forcing them to be more offensively oriented). |

I don't think they're too late. The Vikings were an important race right at the beginning of the Middle Ages, so think Feudalism. Civil Service is right around that time period so it makes sense IMO.
