The Kingdom of Italy-Age of Imperialisim
This is a story of El Justo's Age of Imperialisim 3.0. An excellent scenario everyone should play it. Excuse my grammar English isn't my first language.
I decided on the Kingdom of Italy Spoiler:
Compared to the other major powers of Europe France, Germany, Austria-Hungary, Russia, Britain, we are a light weight. Our industrial base is weak compared to them with only 3 cities on the mainland and Sardinia capable of industrialization, our colonial holdings poor. Our army and navy however are quite decent, if an option to consider is an early attack on Austria-Hungary to take Treiste using our Besalargi Infantry, there are only Home Guard defending the city. Another option is to conquer Abyssinia to expand our colonies. I decide to go with the first plan and attack Austria-Hungary immediatley using the forces available. If we are lucky the entire K. u. K can be destroyed in port. I sign ROP with France and Germany paying them all my gold to get them friendly. Oddly Austria-Hungary is already friendly with us. Now I feel bad. I prepare our fleet and army for attack anyway. |

I think that you post this in the wrong place, man. This should be in Civilization III Stories & Tales.

Check out the stickies at the top of the thread. NES is a forum game. We play around with all kinds of stuff and story telling is a part of it, but not all of it. Check out some of our other threads too. Who knows maybe you'll like it.

I declare war on Austria-Hungary and have my ships bombard the city. I destroy the naval base and damage one of the K.u.K ships.
Spoiler:
My Berslargi attack the city, the first one is driven back with heavy damage and retreats. The second is destroyed entirely. All is lost. I decide to take risk and gamble using Home Guard to attack city. Sucess! Spoiler:
The city falls the entire K.u.K is annihlated and rightfully Italian territory returned. I strip Home Guard from Italy and send them to Treiste to defend against Austro-Hungarian counterattack. Now to hold the city and convince Austria-Hungary for peace. Hopefully soon Milan, Bologona, and Palermo are undefended if France or anyone decides to attack. |

A bold opening turn. I wouldn't have done it, but it's worked so far. Haven't seen the counterattack, though.
And your English seems pretty good to me.

Interesting to see how a smaller civ will survive in this fine scenario.
Maybe you should have mentioned that you tweaked the version of El Justo, as in his version A-H and Germany are in a locked alliance. Had you played the original version I think you wouldn't feel save to attack A-H and Germany so soon. Redman |

@El Justo I lost one Besalargi but I think it was worth it.
@Daniel Khan I like to take risks and I like challenges taking Treiste seemed like a good move to expand my industrial base, damage Austria-Hungary by destroying their navy. Now even if they retake it they will need to start from scratch. @Redman yes this is changed from the original I added more cities, removed locked alliances except for Spanish vs. rebels and I made attack and defense of home guard and militia equal so conscript armies can be used. Does anyone know how can I use mutliquote? Last edited by Nordstream; Feb 25, 2009 at 03:34 PM. |

I continue to wait for Austro-Hungarian couterattack it has not yet come.
Britian makes us give them 29 gold. So does USA. We bombard the city guard in the trenches outside Triest with our ships damaging it. Our first Italian infantry is built and sent to reinforce Triest. We accidentally bombard our own city guard and destroy some of our own improvement. the captain of the ship is court martialed. Austrian cavalry enters the Alps north of the our city guard. We send a new infantry unit to Milan to reinforce it and send Home Guard to protect our workers in the north. Colonial Admin I is researched and naval academy is built in Rome. Spoiler:
We decide to research field guns next to help our war against Austria-Hungary. Our military adviser says that compared to Austria-Hungary our army is strong. These are our lines in Northern Italy and Austria-Hungary still refuses to negotiate. Spoiler:
Persia threatens us and we reject the demands of the backward people. Bad news! Austrian cavalry break our lines killing two home guard and two civil engineers we use Infantry to destroy Austrian cavalry. Germany threaten us and we give them what they want. Austria-Hungary agrees to peace and pays use indemnities and agrees to ROP. Spoiler:
Our situation is better now though loss of the civil engineers will hurt us. We are building conscript workers in Somalia to ship to Italy. Trieste is already a productive city. Now we will build up our industry, commerce, and infrastructure and army. The result of war is clearly Italian victory. |

I am confused... why did Germany not declare war on you!?
And GAH! Careful with those civil engineers! They are worth their weight in gold since you can't steal em!

I took out locked alliances except for Spain vs. Cuba and Filipnos. The loss of the civil engineers is bad.
