Merge with Varietas Delectat?
I just downloaded this mod and it looks really good, but I was wondering how I would merge it with Varietas Delectat v5.0 (what files to edit, etc.). I'm quite good with modding in general, but I haven't really done anything with Civ IV in terms of modding yet, so the file structure is new to me. If someone could point me in the right direction, that would be great.
![]() mythic EDIT: Never mind, I figured it out. For the curious, copy over the .fpk files from VD into the RoM Assets folder, then copy over the contents of the VD Sounds and Modules folders. Forgive me, I'm an idiot. But what is an .fpk file? there was nothing in VD which ended with those letters. Also, which XML files would need to be tweaked, and how so?

If you've downloaded VD, then there's files in the base VD folder or the assets folder (or both, I'm trying to conserve HD space atm and don't have VD installed) with an extension of .fpk. (Units.fpk, Blah.fpk, example.fpk, something like that) If you cannot see the extension of this filetype in Windows, you have a program on your computer which opens .fpk files by doubleclicking on them, and need to go into folder options (Tools->Folder Options... in Vista) and uncheck the option in the View tab to 'Hide the extension of known file types'. This'll show extensions on everything, now.

Still not working. Are you sure its .fkp and not .kf because there's a ton of KF files, mostly contained in the unit folders. Also, I assume the needed tweaks in xml have to do with differences between VD and RoM in unit names. So how would you go about reassigning say the graphic for Heavy horseman to the curiassier?

OK, the .FPK files you're after are in the .../Beyond the Sword/Mods/Varietas Delectat/Assets folder.
Copy the .FPK files (CD_1.1.fpk, EthnicCitystyles_v1.04.fpk, VarietasDelectat_v5.1.fpk) to the RoM assets folder (has the dll, and two more fpks already in it).

Alright, turns out the VD backup wasn't the same as the VD file. Anyway, I copied the .fpk files and the modules folder, loaded the game and was confronted by the most massive XML failure you could imagine. I think it told me every single unit info in the game was in error with individual messages for each unit and each style of that unit. I had to hold the ENTER key for about fife minutes to make it go away.
Is there any simple way to fix this?
