For King and Country - A Hidden & Dangerous 2 AAR
Sometimes I wonder why I did it.
![]() I mean, this was a whole new thing. This wasn’t the regular Army, this was something new…something far more dangerous. Life expectancy was so low they’d probably already written our post-mortem letters to the loved ones. But we’re here for a reason, and dammed if it’s not a good one. The German Army is at the door, make no mistake. Our boys got smashed at Dunkirk and they’re going through hell in Africa. I should know, as I was there. I got my rear hauled out of France on a small fishing shrimper crewed by an eccentric bloke. He had an excellent sense of humour, and he never once flinched, even under the fire of the Stuka dive-bombers. His name, I recall, was Frank Smith. Dispatches say he died the next day. Still, onward we go. I am just one of forty or so men out here, being trained for a new kind of warfare, on that I hope will cause Jerry a lot of suffering. ![]() We’re his Majesty’s best, the men trained to go to hell and come back alive and unshaken. We are the men tasked with the destruction of Hitler’s empire from the inside. We are tasked to do the impossible in every mission we commit to. We are the Special Air Service. __________________________________________________ ______________________ Gentlemen of the British Empire, we need your assistance! The Huns have been ravanging Europe and Africa for far too long! One of our officers, D. Stirling, has suggested forming small units of commandoes to harrass Jerry behind his lines...these will be the SAS. We only accept the best, and there's an extremely high likelyhood of being killed, so think before you sign up! We accept all into training...but we don't accept all trainees. Remember that. Due to my incompetence and the difficulty of the game, I will be playing on EASY difficulty, without cheating and saving VERY, VERY often. Remember, when signing up, please describe any previous military expirience (ie. make something up) and your preffered stat - shooting or stealth (the other states, lock picking a first aid, are ones I find quite, quite useless). I am accepting sign ups to this AAR. Good luck, and may god preserve Great Britain! __________________________________________________ ______________________ FRONT LINE UNIT 1. Sgt. e350tb. 2. Sgt. There are preset stats and soldiers, I'm afraid, but if you tell me your prefered stat to focus one, I'll find the best candidate.

Never heard of this game. Is it squad based tactical combat?
I'm in, could you make me a sniper of some sort?

Right, we have the squad, and Karmic Knight is our first reserve. I'll start on the first update (won't be much, just the training mission, but the fun bit IS coming).

Update One: Training
Somewhere to the north of London, Great Britain. February 1941. ![]() We woke up on our penultimate day of training at three in the morning to hear the pitter-patter of heavy rain on the roof. That just about set the mood for the rest of the day. After being herded out of our huts, the battalion was frog-marched around the hills and back again, where it was just becoming light. We were fed an…undesirable…breakfast before being ordered to the training ground, where we were to be sorted into the four-man units with whom we’d be trusting our lives with. ![]() The first man I met of the unit was Sergeant PrinceScamp, a Canadian of Vancouver Island. What I remember most about him was his endurance – he was the only one who wasn’t still panting when our final examination began. He also had a fondness of blowing things up. ![]() The second was Private Nodikus of Alberta, Canada. He was the best shot of the unit and probably the whole battalion. He was also the strongest man of the unit, able to lift about 30kg in his backpack. ![]() The last man snuck up on me and freaked me out a little bit. After I had established he was not a German spy, the man introduced himself as Private Captain2 of Ontario, Canada (Canadians must be pretty good soldiers if there’s this many in the SAS). He would become our stealth bloke, I decided. The day was relatively uneventful. We learned things we already knew, like how to shoot, keep fit, blow up things with grenades and bazookas, wire explosives, drive jeeps and do stealth missions. It all seemed so easy, compared to the other days of running across hills. Naturally all we wanted was a rest. But no, they wanted to keep us fit! So we remained on camp for five more days, still taking this aggravating training, until early March, when orders arrived. We were going to action in the cold wastes of northern Norway… __________________________________________________ ______________________ Right men, we're being deployed to Norway, so we need to outfit ourselves with guns and uniform (but more importantly, guns). So here's yer list. LIGHT WEAPONS: 4 Enfield.38 with 20 clips 5 Colt 1911 with 6o clips 10 Fairbairn-sykes Dagger MEDIUM WEAPONS: 6 Enfield MK.4 with 60 clips 4 De Lisle C.C. with 60 clips 3 M1 Garand with 35 clips 2 M1 Carbine with 24 clips 5 Springfield with 58 clips 1 Springfield (optics) with 58 clips 0 Enfield MK.1 (optics) with 60 clips 3 Sten gun with 32 clips 1 Sten gun (Silenced) with 32 clips HEAVY: 1 Bren gun with 17 clips EXPLOSIVES: 12 Grenade no. 69 13 Grenade no. 36 1 Explosive 5 Dynamite UNIFORMS 4 Arctic White Camoflague (that's it for body wear, I'm afraid). 6 Paratrooper helmets (white camo). 5 Paratrooper's red berets. ADDITIONAL EQUIPMENT: 4 Compasses 2 Large first aid kits 6 First aid kits 4 Wire Cutters 7 Binoculars 8 Backpacks 1 Camera (required)

I'm assumnig this is what we have to chooswe from and not all that we are taking... as there are only 4 of us and there are 7 binocs, 10 knives, 5 colts, etc etc. What is a De Lisle C.C.?
Feel free to adjust amounts if it doesn't all replenish after we get back to base but make sure it's enough to last us! (I've never played the game). Quote:

We Canadians are indeed great soldiers, who else is tough enough to put up with what the British call a questionable breakfast
![]() and as far as equipment goes, Silenced Sten and a helmet are my main requests, OOC/I prefer the Beret but a helmet once saved my life in a fight with the Italians. of course I had to go running down a hill chasing after it likely making me look foolish to the Italian sniper who shot it off, but I now make sure I always have one even if they look silly in comparison .... (do you have the sabre squadron expansion?)/OOC feel free to also hand me the medical stuff, as long as it isn't taking the place of valuable ammo I'm fine
