Nanking has fallen to joint US-German operations! German peacekeepers are staying in the city and the 5th Artillery brigade is resting before getting its new marching orders.
Oil and Tools from Jakarta reach San Franciso. Machinery is going to be at buffalo next turn, we ask the americans to clear the way. Oil will be in Chicago next turn also. The Department of Homeland Security has issued a mandate to all German generals that the Homeland Defense Forces need to be updated. 1000's of dollars are being pumped into upgrading.

Ministry of Labour
AI desinformation continues: The ministry of Interior has proved wrong the idea it could have been due to a CTRL-N issue. While last month Havanna, Mexico City, Recife and Santa Fe suffered from the bug, this month Kabul and Lima were victim, leaving both cities in disorder, like Recife last month. Restoring order in cities is getting difficult under these circumstances, and happyness improvements need to be rushbuilded from scratch at great expense. Nanchang, Ningpo, Bogota, Recife (Again!), Port-au-Prince, Cairo, Mogadishu, Smyrna and Salt Lake City all suffured minor changes. Oddly enough, some cities seem to change priority from Shields to Food, while for others it is vice-versa. State department The Independents have managed to broker a peace-treaty with the USA during last month. Therefore France will have to finish the joint US-French assault on Buenos Aires by herself. In China US and German troops celebrated on the city-walls and -squares of Nanking. More attacks on Chinese cities by the two armies are expected. This month US forces dug in near Chunking and the initial bombardments have been carried out. Ministry of Commerce US traders delivered goods to French colonies in South America and to German cities. |

Thanks for the bump Germanos
British goods have been delivered to a few cities, and the trans-Canadian RR nears completion.

As I have been writing, I have experienced lots of problems with the (re)location of my city workers.
Today, in another PBEM Slowthinker and me suffered from the same problem. SlowThinker might have found the answer (and the cure). Please all read New 'Ancient Empires' PBEM created . You can skip through the upper part of the page, until you hit SlowThinkers "translocation of workers" (or something similar) post, and read the following ones as well. If this is correct (and I have no reason to doubt him), I kindly ask all of us not to use the F11 key while playing your turn .Oh, and Case: your welcome anytime

Silver from mines around Saratov and Tools from Brest-Litovsk both arrive in Caernarvon, giving a huge boost to the town's fledgling economy. Half a dozen Russian improvements have been completed with the revenues, and trade bonuses have concluded research on how to introduce labor unions to Russian industry. Soon British and Japanese workers can also enjoy fair wages.

Could you (re)post your saves of either dec1871, jan/feb/march/april1872, but this time make sure you press F11 (demographics screen)?
It could well be that F11 is the culprit in the relocation of city-workers. It seems that the Russian turns are 'corrupt', but so far I thought the relocation of my city workers was due to some bug that manifested itself when the turn-cycle was finished. I first experienced the bug in nov1871, then not untill may1872, and it has been bothering me eversince. If you're sure you haven't looked at the demographics since the may1872 turn, then F11 is certainly not the bug that causes the problem. Thanks, Germanos. [edit] Oh, BTW, your last turn may also do, as I've checked my production in that one, and it looks OK. [/edit] Last edited by germanos; Aug 28, 2003 at 11:22 AM. |

Needless to say I'm confused; does merely pressing F11 cause your units to move, or just checking demographics by selecting it from the menu? I check them every turn but never using the key.

Darius: it is indeed confusing.
Once again: it's not units that are moving, its affecting the placement of the 'citizens' in the city-window. I have had multliple times my city-workers move from mining operations (shield producing) to food-production, thus I would not finish the units I ordered, instead I fall a few shields short the next time I load my turn. Or workers on ocean squares, to produce luxeries to end a disorder had moved to a land-square without roads, keeping the city thus in disorder. What exactly is happening is what is being researched, and it might well be that accessing the Demographics, be it by F11 or other means, is causing this to happen. In the 'Ancient Empires' game, it definately looks F11 was involved, but its too soon to be sure. So, any help would surely be appriciated. |

Oh ok, I thought this was connected to your laborers moving a while back. At any rate, I'll stop accessing the Demographics altogether just to be sure (or check them and reload so that this effect isn't in the savegame).

germanos said that at this point Japan could basically be considered up for grabs, so is it all right with you all if I take it?
