Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts

I intend to go out tommorrow and buy Opposing Fronts (again) but before I go off the deep end and buy it, I have one question.

How do you play single player? I've tried it twice and every time it's failed.

I may have already asked this question, but I checked and I couldn't find a thread about it.

Last of all, is it worth $10 at EBs?

I'm not sure I understand the question. You should be able to play singleplayer once you put the CD-key into your relic account. Alternatively if you don't have an internet source (which, evidently, you do), you just need to put the DVD in when you start the game up.

As for the is it worth $10 at EB: Yes. Although player online with strangers will result in next to no fun (the latest installment, Tales of Valor, wrecked balance) if you play the game for singleplayer or with people you can trust not to abuse bugs you will get many hours out of it.

Once you've installed the game it should be a straightforward matter of selecting single player from the main game menu, should it not?

I'd say it's worth $10, I prefer vCOH to OF personally but either way you're getting a great RTS game.

Thanks guys, but I now have another problem.

While Opposing Fronts is working, I can't use the original US and Wermarcht armies for some reason. Any advise?

Do you own the original Company of Heroes? If so have you put the CD-key into your account? If you want to play the US campaign you'll have to install Company of Heroes first I think.

You need the original Company of Heroes if you want to play the US and Wehrmacht armies.

In fact, you do not need to install vCOH first, just plug the CD key in for your account and you should get those armies activated immediately.

I recall patching being very laborious for CoH/OF. I bought digital versions of both and had to go through like a dozen step-level patches. Might want to be sure you're fully patched via THQ/Relic's website, but you do need to own both the original and OF to play with all the factions.

The worst patch was if you had vCoH when OF came out. a 1.7gb patch that one was. Nowadays though, their patching client works quite well and continues to download in the background, so you can fire up a patch update and it will do it for you.

vCoH? I had a digital download version of CoH, and bought a digital version of OF. There was no guidance in the loading screen for the game, only from the library that had all the Relic patches. It really was the most craptastic time I ever had of patching a game.

Ah, that may be why. Digital versions, outside of steam ( and even then ) are crappy to update. vCoH == vanilla CoH, the first one that came out.
