If a unit with hidden nationality that is yours captures a city...

First off does it come under your civ's control? If it does; if you choose to raze that city, does it count against your civ's relations with the victim civ?

I ask because I was planning on making special ancient and medieval age units that have a hidden nationality (for game story purposes they are supposed to be barbarians hired by your civ to do some dirty work for you). They would be purposefully somewhat underpowered so as to not really be anything more than a nuisance but just in case they manage to capture a city (in my role playing case anyway) that i would be able to raze it without penalty (as I would only look to harass instead of conquer at that point).

I know the ai probably would keep whatever cities they managed to get so i cant control that, but these units wouldnt be very powerful so i doubt they get heavily used anyway.

as far as I can remember, units with hidden nationality cannot attack cities without a DoW.

I figured that would make the most sense, but I remember reading about someone critiquing another mod saying that the ai was using the hidden nationality units to basically take over another another ai while still having diplomatic agreements with them. Maybe i was just tired and misinterpreted though.

It would certainly be best if they cant take cities for my purposes and it does make the most sense that way.

HN units can capture cities in my experiece, I saw Japan do this with Ninjas several times. A DoW was required, though iirc.

The AI can capture cities with HN units without a DoW provided that there are no units defending inside (so, if they killed the last defender, they wouldn't immediately capture the city).

Human players, however, cannot attack a city with HN units at all without a DoW.

Even if it's empty? I was thinking of the case where an invisible /hn lurks outside a city & takes it when empty.

No. Players cannot capture cities with hidden nationality units unless they are at war. The AI, however, can.
