I don't like asking this but..
I've recently noticed that I am able to load up Colonisation without the disk much to my surprise. I'm not sure why I even tried that but I was wondering if there was some LEGAL!! means of doing the same with Civilization 4 complete. The answer is most likely a resounding no but I have to make absolutely sure for 3 reasons in no particular order:
1) My dvd drive seemingly likes to throw my disk around; I frequently have to retrieve it form the top of the drive which is almost certainly scratching the disk and for all I know it could be doing some damage to my drive as well. 2) The most alarming reason and the one that compelled me to make this post was that, this morning, I noticed a crack in my Civ 4 disk. It runs in a straight line from the hole in the center to 2mm beyond the transparant part. I've barely gotten any use out of it and this crack is probably by virtue of my disk drive. I don't want to lose the ability to play my game when my Civ 4 "career," has barely begun and I would prefer to not have to replace my disk drive yet. 3) My disk drive is damn noisy

patch Beyond the Sword to 3.19 that removes the disk check for BtS - for Civ4 and Warlords the answer is no. (unless you buy the american complete version which has no disk check at all).

Awesome. Just tried loading up BTS without the disk and it worked. Thanks. Shame about Warlords though
