Why aren't the forests I'm clearing giving me shields?
I'm clearing a lot of forests around my city, yet it won't give me any of the shields.
Some information: I am producing a forbidden palace in the city. The city is not currently connected by roads to the capital and his has a high rate of corruption. I have a Republic government. All tiles I am deforesting are within the city radius as well as my cultural borders. The tiles I am deforesting do not have roads on them. The tiles I am deforesting do not have workers on them. There is no other city of mine nearby. |

I believe you can not accelerate wonders by cutting down forests, disbanding units etc.

Correct. You cannot use your forest shields as long as you're building either a small wonder or a great wonder.

Also, if hte tile is not near a city there is no bonus.
Forests will give shields only once. Cutting, replantin, cutting will NOT give 10 shields twice! |

If you cut a forest that YOU (or the AI too I think) planted, then you do not get the 10 shields. Only those provided by mother nature will yield that bonus.

ok,
now i decide to clear (and later replant) all my natural forests, because i have the slaves to do the job and to yield a maximum shieldbonus. How do i keep track at this?? After a copple of turns i really donīt remember which forest were cut down, which are natural and which are replanted. Thatīs my problem unless i have only a copple of cities. and to me, automated workers are not really an option, it seems like the slaves are not so happy to be slaves, seen the decisions they make...

WUM: if you automate, at least make sure that
- water is available everywhere - you use shift - a (or whatever else, Shuift-Ctrl-I) |
