Hello Everybody,

This is my official second scenario and this time it took me much longer to finish it than 500 A.D.. So, I hope you like it and here are the infos.

What's going on in the World

The year is 1530 A.D and Europe is about to descend into another century of war and destruction. It has been 80 years since the Fall of Constantinople to the Ottoman Empire and the Turks have already occupied most of the Balkans and all of the Middle-East. The current Sultan Suleiman is planing to expand his realm into central Europe. The only obstacle in his way is the city of Vienna which is part of the decaying Holy Roman Empire. While in the east the Turks are marching against the wicked nations of the West, the West is more interested in fighting among themselves. The Protestant Reformation has swept through Germany, England and Scandinavia resulting a new wave of conflict. The most power full man in Europe Charles V King of Spain and Holy Roman Emperor has many tasks in front of him. The first major objective is to protect Italy from a French Invasion started by Francis I. Also he needs to stop the Turkish Invasion at Vienna. Charles also rules over a large domain America. After the Conquistadors finished of the Aztec and Inca it is time to spread the word of god and modernise that new realm.
France and England are both preparing to create an own Colonial Empire in America. France already has a foothold in Montreal. In Scandinavia the Danes are trying to crush a Swedish revolt but the Swedes are determined to win their independence. Russia is starting a conquest of the remaining Tatar lands and a war with Poland has started.
In Asia the Persians are fighting the Ottomans over Mesopotamia, it is yet to be seen which nation is the strongest. The Mughals are continuing their conquest of India. Japan has to overcome feudal lords which aren't interested in a unified state. While China, Siam and Korea are enjoying a peaceful period.

Small Info:
Since there is no Protestantism in Civilization IV I decided to use Judaism. This means you need to imagine that Judaism is Protestantis and Christianity is every other Group of Christians.

Nice, very nice !

But one thing : Budapest didn't exist by this time it was the fusion of Buda and Pest in late XIX century, you should naming otherly :)

Downloading...

Opening possibility of an alternate history : what about if Ottomans had taken Vienna ?

That's the good thing about civ you can create very different history.
So which civ did you guys play and is the balancing all right?

Played "Venetian Republic", rapidly Papal States has exploding culture and i noticed that only Islam has Holy City...

The Turks has taken Vienna rapidly, but didn't go nowhere after...

What about an alternate 1530 where Byzantines has survived ?

What about a scenario where the Black Death has killed 3/4 of european population ?
In 1530 always...

Wait, why is that only Islam has a holy city? Rome should be the Christian Holy City, DEhli the Hindu,Lhasa Buddist and Beijing for the two asian religions. Only Judaism shouldn't have one since Protestants don't have something like that.

Kind of odd that Portugal is missing (it wasn't united with Spain until 1580-1640 and their colonies appear not to be on the map). Otherwise a very interesting setup. :goodjob:

Damn, this is a historical error on my part. I fought that the Union already existed during the reign of Charles V. Currently I am thinking about replacing the Pope with Portugal. The presence of the Papal States in Italy really seems to be a problem for Venice and Spain, due to Rome's high culture.

EDIT:New Version is up.
Pope replaced by Portugal, Rome is the Christian holy city and Budapest renamed to Buda.

Redownloading :)

Nothing to does, Ottomans take always Vienna, and after they vassalized Germans, Mughals and Persians...

I played Venice, The Most Serenissime Republic, damned its hard to play Venice, so i must replay Venice to expand in Italy or France because Turks are too big empire, perhaps giving them less military ? Shouldn't not take easily Vienna

In the next version I will reduce the army at Vienna. I'll also make the Germans deslike the Turks more. Persia will get some extra forces in Mesopotamia.

I replayed Venice yesterday, taking Milan instead invading Ottomans Balkans

But, here the Turks have converged to my city of Venice, then the spanish have claim peace with them and rapidly vassalized Portugal...

But the turks has vassalizzed Ethiopia, Persia and... France

I guess I'll have to set the game option to ''No Vassal States'', in order to prevent vassalisation en masse. Did the turks manage to take Vienna this time around.

Actually, I would keep Vassals on, just because Charles and the Ottomans were very imperialistic, and it would be very realistic for them to Vassalize as much as possible.

Anyway, this scenario is awesome, and as for my feedback on playing it well...

I'm playing as the Ottoman's right now, even with some outdated units, they're the largest powerhouse period. I swept over a good 50% of Persia and forced them to capitulate without even adding any units to that starting stack outside of Baghdad. Once Vienna is taken (Something I was able to do in 3 Turns, again, only with the starting stack), I bulldozered my way down the Italian Peninsula, totally eliminating the Venitian Empire in about 3-4 Turns. Charles V is a pushover, most of his cities go down in 1 turn (At least all the one's I've attacked, bar Vienna). Currently, I'm poised to take Cilgari and Palermo with only a Cannon and a Jannisary for each. Meanwhile I have a huge stack going across Germany to take down Strabburg and Amsterdam. I'm assuming you don't want the Ottoman's to be this strong, a good way to do that might be to cut down on the Number of Jannisaries in each stack to boot. Seriously, just having at least Two of those guys makes ALL the difference when taking a city.

As far as vassals go, Persia capitulated, and John Fredrick asked to become a Vassal. So really, so far I haven't seen any Vassalization enmasse.

Thanks for the Feedback.:goodjob:
From what you said Charles didn't pose much of a threat. I guess I will have to move the main Spanish Army from Spain to Italy and reduce the Ottomans military strength at Vienna and Baghdad. It seems that the Spanish don't use their huge army in Spain against France or the Ottomans.

They probably did in fact use it against France, and it was just nothing by the time I got there. Anyway, here's how the game played out:

I failed to take Cilgari, it was mostly just luck that the one unit there killed both my Jannisary and Cannon. Strabburg has fallen to the French by the time I get there, so my Army moves up to Amsterdam. I'm poised to take it, when suddenly, my vassal, the Germans, swoops in and steals it from me. I try moving my army to attack Barcelonia, but by now its too dwindled to do much, plus Russia has declared war on me. So, I make peace with Charles, and by now all my cities have become Jannisary producing factories. It takes about 7 turns for all the ones I created to get there, but I begin attacking Russia quickly. I take just Kharkov, Sarnara, and Perm (The latter two were captured from barbarians.), with about 18 Units total. They capitulate, and Sweden now declares war.

Right now, Just about everyone besides France (Who is cautious.) and the Mughals (Who are Friendly), are annoyed or furious with me.
My Vassals are: Persia, Germany, Russia.
----------------------------------------------------------
So, I try to attack Sweden, but only end up taking one city, I find myself going nowhere fast. So, I make a hasty peace by giving them back Helsinki (The city I captured.), and Declare War on Ethiopia. IT TAKES FOREVER TO FINISH THEM OFF. Ironically, Ethiopia, only thanks to the mountains, ends up lasting longer than Venice, Persia, or Russia. However, I capture them, and force a Capitulation. By now my imperial fires are almost vanquished, but just as I'm about to stop Jannisary production, I get two free vassals, France and the Mughals. I don't even have to go to war!

My Army begins mobilizing to go to war with Siam. My points are twice that of China, who's in second place. Just as I'm about to expand eastward, and have some REAL fun...the game ends.

I win by time Victory!

Vassals in the end: Persia, Germany, Russia, France, Ethiopia, Mughal Empire
Civs totally Eliminated: Venice

-------------------------------------------
Well, that's my chronicle of my game. I hope you got something out of it as far as changes go.

The Protestant German towns weren't really united at all, so I would have put them in as a minor civ or barbarians.

Considering they rarely do anything, I could replace them with barbs. Well I would have another possible civ to add. Currently I can't decide between Native Americans or a Catholic German civ which would serve as Charles's Vassal and would make the game a bit easier for Spain.

I'd go with Native Americans, as of now, nothing much really is happening in America at the moment. Charles doesn't need help, he can overrun the Germans and French very quickly, if you play him right.
