How can I play Earth maps with all civilizations?
First of all, I don't know if this is the correct forum to ask this question. If it isn't, sorry.
Well, I've downloaded a 34 civilizations Earth map (this one, I believe: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=246068), expecting that I could play with 34 civilizations (or however many civilizations exist in all 3 versions of the game combined). However, I could only choose out of 18 civilizations of which to play as, and indeed, only 18 civilizations spawned upon starting the map. So I searched around, and found this: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showth...=234779&page=3 I downloaded it, and put it everywhere which made sense, but alas, I still can't play with all civilizations on the Earth map mentioned above. The game even crashed (it wouldn't start) if I replacd that new .dll with the default one. I would really appreciate it if someone could explain what exactly I have to do, where I have to put the files, what to edit, basically, everything. It's my first modification I've downloaded for this game, and I only have this game for a few days (3). Thanks in advance, need my speed. |

What the hell? There's a 35 civ world map thread literally 2 down from this one, why the hell would you make a new thread instead of just asking in the thread that is exactly related to your question?
Probably for the same reason you posted in the wrong forum in the first place, because you can't read. Moderator Action: There is zero need to be so rude. Warned. Please read the forum rules: http://forums.civfanatics.com/faq.php?faq=updated_rules_2011

Yes...Have you bothered to see what kind of world map it is? It adds other resources, other religions, all kinds of things I don't want...

And make sure, that the new .dll has the same patching level like your civ. Current version is 3.19, so update, if you haven't done it already. |

Here is a good Earth map for all the civs. However, the CvGameCoreDLL is for BtS 3.17, so when you download it, you'll need to replace it with this CvGameCoreDLL.

Thank you. Unfortunately, it contains an unofficial patch, which, as I said, don't want. Still, thanks. Plus, if you follow the link to the download base, you see that it's the same map I'm already using...And it may work, but I don't know how to install it (and also not how to install the .dll), so...
And, I always make back ups of my files. |

You don't have to copy over the original CvGameCoreDLL: Simply make a mod ( in Civilization IV/Beyond the Sword/Mods), make an assets folder in that mod and paste the custom CvGameCoreDLL in it, then copy and paste the (the custom) CvGameCoreDLL over the Earth 34 civs one.

Well, I've created, in the Mod folder of Beyond the Sword, a map called FourtyCivilizations. In it, is an Assets map, a PublicMaps map, a FourtyCivilizations.ini file, and a FourtyCivilizations.ini.bak file. In the Assets map is the .dll, and in the PublicMaps map is the Earth map, called FourtCivilizations. Yes, I've renamed everything. Unfortunately, when I try to load my new FourtyCivilizations mod, the game crashes. I have a very strong feeling this is because of the .dll, but why? And what can I do to fix it?

Did you download the custom DLL in my post and paste it over the one that came with the FourtyCivilizations download?

And did you patch your main game to 3.19?
And don't trust the auto updater, it fails often. |

Yes, and yes. At least, that's what the patcher I downloaded said...But I assume you can see in game which versin you have? I'll have a look at it.
Well...I'm now downloading 3.19...Stupid patcher which didn't patch my game to 3.19...Anyway, thanks, I'll see if it works. Last edited by need my speed; Jan 21, 2010 at 07:25 AM. |

It works for me but it didn't at first..
I have the Civilization IV: Complete version and I assumed that I have the latest patch version (bought it a couple of weeks ago). That was not the case. I had 3.13 and that's why the game always crashed when I loaded a mod. Than I clicked on Find Updates button (or something like that) just for fun and it started to download updates... one of those things. Now it works fine! So, check everything, you never know! |

Well, I now have version 319, or 3.0.1.9. if I remember correctly. There are no updates available. And guess what, when I load the FourtCivilizations mod it crashes...

Did you remember to update the Custom DLL in the FOurty Civilizations folder?

What do you mean? Replace it AGAIN with the .dll that comes with the mod? Or what?
EDIT: Well, apparantly you did mean that! It works! Great! Thanks to everyone who helped, or tried to help me, thanks! Last edited by need my speed; Jan 21, 2010 at 08:13 AM. |

Well, I meant my second post in this thread, though did you say that you replace the CvGameCoreDLL in Beyond the Sword/Assets with the FOurty Civilizations DLL? I guess that's okay too, I guess.

Is there also a way to select the leaders and civilizations like you do in a normal way? Of course, I could enter the world builder and delete any civilization I don't want, but how can I change the leaders?
And, Farsight, I did do that, but then the game crashed, so in the end, I didn't do that. Confusing? Probably. :P |

Go to the WBS file in the Private Maps folder of FourtyCivilizations. Then, open it up with a text editor, and scroll down to the Player Section. Then, replace the LeaderType. For example, if you want Washington to be the American leader instead of Roosevelt, change LEADER_ROOSEVELT to LEADER_WASHINGTON and change the LeaderName section accordingly (i.e. change TXT_KEY_LEADER_ROOSEVELT to TXT_KEY_LEADER_WASHINGTON).
