Normalized points and victory conditions

I just finished a Noble game, where I won a Diplo victory in 2006AD. Now it doesn't look to great, with a normalized score of +12K. However, I was just wondering if I may have screwed myself. Here's the scene:

I'm Roosevelt, Fractal Normal Map, Normal speed.

I have 2 vassals, Saladin and Surveyman II.

Ragnar also has 2 vassals, Willem and Hannibal. At one point, Ragnar had more land than me, but I led in population.

My goal from the get-go was a Domination Win. I had a nice tech lead over Ragnar's axis of evil and only Saladin was on par with me, probably because he was the only Civ who hadn't warred all game (along with Huayna Capac).

So I tech my way to Industrialism, start building Navy Seals and transports, as well as tanks and Artillery. I switch to State Property, US to rush-buy units and moved my slider to 100% gold. From a warring standpoint, it ended up being a mess: I didn't have enough Navy Seals for my amphibious assault but I had a big enough SoD that I kept replenishing that I ended up moving my way accross Ragnar territory taking his cities. He never capitulated and in fact he became vassal to Willem. If he would have capitulated, I probably would have won sooner.

That being said, at the same time, Capac built the UN and I was his opponent. A few turns before I took Ragnar's second last city, I voted for myself for a diplo victory. I took Ragnar's second last city, had the number for a Domination Win, but the results came back at the same time that I had won a Diplo Victory.

Would my score have been higher with a Domination Win? Was it stupid to hold Diplo Victory elections, when I was about to win a Domination?

In case some are wondering, I still learning at war, and it took me a while to get jails and Mt. Rushmore, which is why the WW was crippling, and it took me a while to units in some cases. Also, I was so focused on building units that I also neglected Airports for airlifting. These would have made things go by faster. I just wanted to keep my tech lead.

As a sidebar question, is there a way to automate rush-buying units, ie, CRTL-ALT to produce units indefinately and automatically rush-buying them.

I don't think that in this case it would have affected your score, as it is mostly calculated from population, land area, and finish date.

Hopefully someone can answer your second question about automating. There is a way to have a city build a unit over and over, but I can never remember the shortcut. I don't think there is a rush buy automation, however.

Click the button with a hammer in front of a computer screen.

Warning: The AI governor will decide what to build if your build queue runs out.

You're playing Noble and your biggest worry is your score?

Hahaha!

^^ Sorry, I didn't get the joke. With all due respect, what difference does it make to you. I understand you don't have an answer and that's fine. Right now, I'm a Noble player. Didn't think that was a big deal. The score isn't my biggest worry - don't really know where you got that. It was really just a simply question.
