Stinky Cheese alert following the Monday Server Update
Why do i get the sickening feeling that every time Telefragged "does maintenance" on the forum server they are adding some half baked code to worm the pop-ups and otehr ad media deeper into our souls at teh expense of basic functionality.
Since the serve maintenance on Monday The forums are dog meat slow and you get the "too busy try again later message almost 50% of the time. There are hints of stinky cheese in the revealed status messages that lag while showing "loading transition applet" and other bs that should not be installed to impede server function. The size of the popups and the animated content of the ads also seems to have grown in recent weeks. I don't mind the ads. If they are functional they pay the bills, but if the are just harassment this cannot be a good thing. Any indicators of why the functionality as so unreliable all of a sudden? |

yeah, that maintenance sure has increased the server busy errors for me. What kind of maintenance was it....random RAM removal(pick a number between 1-10, remove that number of ram sticks)?

I don't think TF get's any money from ads, though I'd assume they make fees lower... Pop ups aren't a problem for me...

I'm using my 6 seconds of functioning forum time to say something is definately wrong in a big way.
I have tried to drop by and read or update threads about 7 times in the bast 4 hours and the server is too busy or down 90% of the time. I checked the status severl times and saw 22 users with 22 guests and 81 users with 95 guests and the server was too busy to allow access to the forums in both cases. It is taking at least 40 to 80 seconds for the server to respond to page requests even when it does respond. Posting new messages is a true game of Russian Roullette because 50% of the time the server is too busy to accept the new post by the time you get it typed in. Something is really sick at the server level? |

I thought you only get popups when you load the main page and not the forum?

I am also in the WTF is wrong with this board recently.
It took my 15 minutes to get through 5 or 6 posts - No response and server to busy like crazy. The annoying part, they still have plenty of bandwith to show the ads.

Viewing the forum in the morning seems to limit the problems although avators have been turned off now so it should be better at peak times.

I don't really care about pop-ups here, I only get one at the first loading of the CFC homepage. Of course, by now I strategically hold my mouse in the top right corner to instantly remove the ad...

I have had the same problems with not being able to navigate smoothly in the forums for about the last 2 weeks and it has finally gotten to me. It just took me 20 mins to get into the forum.
What kind of evil conspiracy does Telefragged have against Civfanatics that it would make us suffer through this.
