Beginner Question

So I'm new to modding for CIV IV, and have been looking through the FFH2 mod (which is amazing by the way). I'm having trouble understanding how some things work. For example, I've been trying to trace how the Ars Moriendi character is constructed through the xml files and I'm coming to an impass when locating the resources for the unit. Now in the art defines xml it states that it uses the following NIF resource:
<NIF>Art/Units/Heroes/Ars/Unique_Byzantine_Cataphract.nif</NIF>
However, there is no Ars folder in my mod directory. This happens with many of the units, buttons etc I've seen. What am I missing? Thanks.

I'm no expert, but my understanding of it is that the vast majority of art assets are packed within the Pak0.fpk file. You'll need to extract them from there if you want to edit it or something.

Correct, all art that is not added by a patch will be located in the pak0.fpk, in FfH/Assets. You can unpack it using this utility: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=136023
