Is Lady GaGa the best pop musician of the 2000's?

Pretty simple question. Is Lady GaGa the best pop musician (one that frequently gets played on top 40 radio) since the year 2000?

Personally, I can't think of anyone better off the top of my head.

Note; any musicians that started their career before 2000 are automatically disqualified.

At first I thought 'surely not'...but then I searched through the ARIA No. 1's of the last decade, any couldn't find any better option. So I guess so.

i once saw a video of her. pretty average run of the mill popsong with a video that would have been avantgarde 10 or 20 years ago, so i guess it's mainly about image and less about music?

It pretty much sums up this decade that she is the best artist to come for a long time in the pop scene.

The only thing I have seen or heard by her was her performance at the Brits - but I thought that was superb. And she seemed so quiet and nervous when receiving awards - quite a contrast.

Many different definitions may be offered of the word "God". Given this fact, atheism makes a much stronger claim than theism does. The atheist says that no matter what definition you choose, "God exists" is always false. The theist only claims that there is some definition which will make "God exists" true. In my view, neither the stronger nor the weaker claim has been convincingly established. Anthony Kenny

I realised i voted wrong. I might not like her, but i loathe most other pop musicians and couldn't say who would be "better" than her.

So i'll just say that she's not among the worst from the 2000s.

Besides, it is comendable that someone as ugly as her managed to become a pop queen.

He just might be the best pop musician of the 2000's.

do you all remember Gwen Stefani from the 2004-6 years?
Her hit "What you waiting for?"
Yes lady Gaga sounds identical to Gwen Stefani musicwise.
But as a philosophical leader, Lady Gaga has more interesting life and personality.

I love pop music, and while Gaga's music is not that innovative, her image is.
So she will defiently be remebered as a great Pop star.

They're sort of both.

I can't decide either way.

Doesn't matter what I consider rap to be, in terms of talent & the "standoutishness" lady-ga-ga just doesn't have it. She might be a step up Rihana pop-musicwise but that'd not saying much. It's been a crappy decade for music but not that bad. Overall Eninem stands out the most. In terms of non-rap talent Amy Lee (just to use an example) blows gaga out of the water (even if you don't like Evanescence).

She's very talented for a pop musician. I thought she was just a novelty act until my wife convinced me to listen to her albums. Holy crap, I know she's not the one producing those, but that's some of the best production work I've heard in a very very long time.

you serious? They had Gaga's The Fame for free on Air Canada flights so I listen to it for hours. Is good but its like totally Gwen Stefani.. and most of her songs are boring except for Poker Face and Just Dance.

Eminem would win hands down except he started before 2000.

However I can easily come up with many candidates I'de still put way above Lady gaga...
In terms of female pop singer and thus easiest to directly compare I'de say Rihanna mops the floor with Lady Gaga hands down. She's way hotter, and has much better music and videos... I'de also put Gwen Stefani above Lady Gaga too...

In terms of top 40 rap there are many I would consider much bigger than Lady Gaga even say 50 Cent, mediocre as far as rappers go but still way better than Lady gaga, and at his peak he was a hell of a lot more popular too. Young Jeezy comes to mind as well, Ludacris, ummm can't think of too many others from the 2000's but still, lots are better than Lady gaga.

That said I do like a few of Lady gaga's songs, Poker Face is certainly good, (though Cartman's version is way better.)

Dude, Gwen Stefani is much more talented.

I mean she's produced a lot of crap too (hollaback girl ) but also has shown a wide range of ability.
