Personally, I just love those medieval infantry. That attack animation is so awesome. That'll teach those lousy spearmen who's boss
. What's your favorite new PTW unit and why?

I like the maceman. I always hated having swordsmen in the middle age.
The numidian infantry is pretty tough, too. |

The Sipahi has an awesome animation and it kicks serious buttocks (the GA comes at a decent time, too)

I don't have PTW, but it seems to me that the Berzerk would be good.

I have the berserk now and it is truly awesome. It costs 90 shield though and takes about 6 turns to make 1.

I really like numidian mercs but I think my favorite new UU is Gallic Swordsman, at least for playing an early conquest game. A swordsman with 2 movement? Awesome in the early game, like ancient era cavalry!

I still remember the first time I went up against the Celts:
"6 attack???? Are you f***ing kidding me?" No joke.

I like the spanish UU, the Conquistadors.
I use them to hold cities I just conquered so I don't need any of my offensive units to stay behind to quell resistance. Also since they treat all terrain as road, they can move across the map very quickly (since my front line moves rather quickly too). Definitely speed up my war momentum when I don't have to wait for the musketeers or riflemen from the rear to hold my new cities.

In purely aesthetic terms (ie, the animation), Conquistadors are cool -- I love the dog!
But for sheer battlefield prowess, the Sipahi are truly fearsome. Now, on the other hand, zerkers are fun to play, if only because they open up new strategic possibilities (unlike Sipahi, which just give you more of what you already had before). |
