Thought I would share this game with you guys as it's never happened to me before or since. I play on the Nintendo DS btw.
A couple of weeks ago I thought i'd move up to deity difficulty and as it was one of my first games at this level decided to give myself a break and play as the Romans to go for a cultural victory. All of the civs started on one big island. I was in the bottom-left corner separated from the rest of the island by a thin pathway. In my area there was a pretty good layout for me to have 4 cities with the resources good for one specialist city for production, 1 for science and 1 for gold (plus my capital of course) but no barbarian cities. The Aztecs had their capital on the narrow pathway connecting me to the rest of the island where the other civs were so pretty early on their cultural barrier had blocked off the rest of the island. The Aztecs did not declare war on me all game and although the other 3 AI's were all at war with me at various points on and off they could not reach me by land because of the Aztec city. At no point did any of them think to put some units in a boat and reach me by sea. Later in the game i also built a couple of cities on some small outlying islands but again the AI never sent a ship to attack them. I therefore ended up winning a cultural victory without a single one of my units being involved in a single fight (either offensive or defensive) all game. |

That's kind of impressive. Well maybe not impressive, but uncommon. There may have been a glitch that made the AI not use boats, but that just seems weird.

That is amazing. I constantly play on Diety Level and I have always experienced battles. Sometimes more than others. I am playing a game now as the Chinese, and the Greeks, Spanish, and Aztecs have all attacked me over and over and sometimes in conjunction with eachother. I now have just begun to use Diplomacy to pay the other Civ's off to fight eachother (and leave me alone).
