Hi there.
I was playing some BTS and wanted to know something. I was going over all of the XML files today in an effort to understand how does a city being created when I use a settler and press B. I thought it might work like a worker who's building an improvements, so I'd hope to find any clue in CIV4BuildInfos.xml, but to no avail... What is the order of events that are taking place when I press B? What's get activated? In which files I should check? Thank you in advance. -Tuxu. |

I have a suspicion that this is not something you'll find in the xml files - maybe in the SDK files, don't know where though. |

In the SDK, the CvCity:init() function.

Pardon my ignorance but what is this SDK you speak of? Is it the python infra? is it a whole different program? I would like to know. Maybe if I'll explain what i want to do then you guys could help me more; I wish to create a unit which can spawn other units, like in ffh2, but not with an elaborate infra and functions, just click a button and spawn a unit. I thought that I must check how does a city spawn units but maybe I don't. I guess you people know better then me. thanks for moving the post into where it belongs, i was not aware that theres a specific thread for that - I was only aware of the modding section(and I'm not modding anything yet so I didn't use it). btw - happy holyday to whom it may concern

The SDK is the "Software Development Kit" used to create and run the Civ4 Game Engine. It's in C++, and installed with every copy of the game, you can find it in the Beyond The Sword/CvGameCore folder.
However, you don't need to use the SDK to create buttons that have actions. There is a tutorial in the tutorial forum on "Creating Python Action Buttons", which could, theoretically, do exactly what you describe.
