I am going to start a new Questions thread in OT, after the moderators finish deciding on a list of guidelines. It's a useful and interesting thread when used properly, but the most recent one degenerated into a great deal of malicious trolling. This is absolutely unacceptable behavior, so we would really like to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Thanks Valka. I was wondering this myself, and was going to petition for a new thread or the re-opening of the old one - with bans for misbehaviour of course.

The only way to make the questions thread work is to prevent a specific poster from being able to ask questions.

But I'm sure the list of posters you don't want posting in the threads isn't the same list of posters we don't want posting in that thread.

There is one particular poster whose questions consistently result in crap replies.

Remove the cause, not the symptom.

Oh, right - because the poster in question held a gun to the heads of EVERY SINGLE MEMBER WHO POSTED THOSE VICIOUS, TROLLING REPLIES!

How about you (collective "you") just don't post "crap" replies! There is nothing that says you HAVE to reply to a post you find uninteresting or otherwise not worth your time/effort to compose a constructive response.

I rarely post in the thread anymore due to the often inane questions but would a better option not be a combination of the two? Obviously trollers etc should be infracted but those who continue to ask plain ridiculous questions which have no merit- surely they should be warned also?

Troll baits are against the rules. The troll who puts the bait out there is the obvious person responsible. Those that respond to it are feeding the troll - which is also against the rules.
