Civ5 Mod Tools: What info do we have?

I'm trying to decide whether to buy Civ V day one, or wait until it's a little cheaper (Civ games rarely go out of date. Yoiu can play them ten years later and they're still great).

In the end I decided it would come down to the modding possibilities. So I wondered what information we have about the modding capabilities of Civ 5? They said in the release there would the debut of modding features... does this mean that we will have easier systems than the... extensive... extensive... painfully extensive xml editing required for Civ 4?

The core parameters will still be in XML.

Which is fine; its a highly flexible system that allows a lot of changes to be made.

To make it easier, try getting some good XML editing tools that create graphical interfaces to work through.

I'm a fan of xml in general, but adding a new leader or unit to Civ 4 required editing about 10 different xml files in fairly random places to get them to work I was hoping it was a little easier than this

If it's not, you could start your modding of Civ5 by creating tools for these things "An add a leader" and "Add a civ" tool would probably be popular. And, if it's like in Civ4, not very hard to make.

Oh, all places make really sense.
No idea what could be random there.

@topic: Besides that there will be an external map making tool nothing else has been said.

I for one will be sad to play without BUG. Playing Civ without it just isn't as fun imho.

@TheBrit,

Apart from what languages the devs are using to build the game, we basically have zero information about modding tools or capabilities. We will simply have to wait for more information.

In ModCast it was confirmed that we would have a text localization tool, something with the SDK, the worldbulder, as well as many more that are not yet announced.

So it will still include SDK?

Maybe one day I'll load V on this new computer, but I have no desire to play it anymore.

That's what I got out of it, though they weren't that precise.
