New FREE PBEM Helper..Make sending turn Fast!!!
Hello,
I wrote this program to make playing PBEM games less awkward (you know, searching for your turn to email it): try it out and let me know if this helps! This program was made to help with sending Play By Email Turns with Civilization Play The World. I hope everyone enjoys it and finds it useful. Product Highlights: -As soon as you open the program, the program will automatically open your game "saves" directory where the PBEM turns are saved to: just pick your file/turn you want to send and click 'OK'. -QuickPics Feature: Once you type in an email address and your other relevant information, you can save this in the program so you will not have to type it in again! You can also chose to send your turn as High Priority if you would like just by checking the High Priority Check Box. -This program does NOT require any other email client on your PC: You can use this to send your turns regardless if you have email capabilities on the PC or not! Program Prerequisites: Windows 2000/XP The VB.Net framework CIV III installed (duh) Active Internet Connection An Active Email Address (NOT a hotmail.com type email address) Goto http://www.etvsoftware.com to download for FREE! Post any questions here or email at info@etvsoftware.com |

I have another Email helper that I designed in Delphi. It's very similiar to the etvsoftware version but instead of automatically closing after the turn is sent it stays open and allows you to minimize it to the system tray. It also remembers the last file attachment so if you use fixed file save name, there is no need to re-enter it again. Finally, it doesn't pop-up a 'Turn Sent' messagebox unless you want it to do so.
It was designed under Windows Xp so you shouldn't have any problems with it. Make sure you fill out all the data in the preferences tab before attempting to send email. You will also need to know your SMTP Host address (for example, mine is smtp-server.tampabay.rr.com) in order to send email. I have no idea what that would be for hotmail, yahoo or aol accounts so please don't email me and ask. If you want to try the file email me at: nitey@tampabay.rr.com (the file size even compressed is 875 kb and apparently to big to be attached to this message). If someone wants to host the file and post the link, let me know. Finally, if you have any problems or comments please feel free to email me but I don't promise a reply unless I can help. |

Hi guys!
What about a Win98 version? It might be not so difficult, since you've created for W2000 and XP...

With Conquests coming out soon my Civ3 interest is back so I'll go ahead and write the damn thing now. Give me a couple weeks and I'll have it ready and it will run on Win98 just fine. |

I like this idea.
I winder if it will work for Conquests; I don't have PTW as a separate expansion.

Yeah verily, it does.
I'd like to see a feature that lets you set the default ditrectory to \conquests\saves vice \ptw\saves, though.

Yes, the ability to change the default directory is precisely what it needs.

civ3ptwpbemhelper.zip
I get the same error...
However, I think I've found the correct Zip file in my download folders. It's 3.6 MB. I'll post it on one of my servers until the author asks me to remove it: http://www.competingprices.com/Civ/c...pbemhelper.zip |
