What irritates you most about the AI?
I know the AI has a handicap when it comes to competing against human intelligence but some of this is comical. One thing that annoys me is how a barbarian can "sense" whenever you leave a city unguarded. You could be 20 squares away where there whould be no way they can detect you but it doesn't stop them from moving your way.
Also how AI civs trade among each other. IMHO i think civs should be more hostile to each other in the beginning to give it a more historic feel. There is no way the Romans would have given technology to the Gauls or Germanic tribes.

Yeah, the barbarian thing is very annoying, i agree with you there
Problem with no-one trading techs would be that the game would go at a very slow pace. |

ya it seems like everyones otu to get you even on lower lvls when the ai suddenly attacks you for NO reason just because they think your to powerful
if the real world was like that we would be all dead cuz the US would have nuked russia right as soon as the cold war started.

Exactly, CenturionV. I'm playing second easiest level, tiny map and there are three civs(including my own) left. All civs have MPP and ROP, and I share an island with France. They are gracious, and what do they do? Declare war on me, of course. Greece and I made sure it didn't happen again.

I hate the ai's desire-or lack there of- of trading with a human opponent on deity. i must trade five techs and a resource to get 1 equal cost tech. then theyll give it to their ai buddies that cant offer anything for it.

The fact that the AI knows where the Strategic Resources are ahead of time, and plops down a city in the middle of the desert.
It would be better if the Resources were randomly generated at the time of one civ's discovery of the required tech. That way, they wouldn't settle in random places.

As for tech, my only suggestion is to trade as much as they do. Tiring when you have to call up several civs every few turns, I know. Worse if you fall behind and have nothing (even resources) to trade with.

I also used to hate when they kept invading my territory, but now I like it because I see it as a pretext to have some fun and attack them. |

That the AI allows you to win an OCC!
No human player in a multiplayer game would do that. They always have the possibility to destroy you before you are able to win. Nevertheless OCC is a fun game to play and thanks to the stupidity of the AI it is possible to win. Ronald

a well guess thats one of the reasons theres military units in the game
it almost feel btter when your beating up on a comp who you atribute human feelings (and evilness) to than when your beating up on one of your friends

I would have liked for the AI to have a bit more feeling for strategy and planning, maybe plan a bit more advanced attacks and not just going straight on, weighing advantages and disadvantages against each other.
I also think that the AI leaders are a bit like children; give them a cookie and they smile and say thank you, be bad and they declare war-they should be more deceiving when it would fit their purposes. |

The AI also seems to know exactly where your unguarded cities are and head straight for them when at war.
