What special Units do you like?
I like the Rider and Panzer, they seem like the only useful special units that differrs in an more helpful way than originals.

Personally i like the Immortal a lot since it is very easy to run over any civ in the Ancient ages. Although with PTW, it is a little difficult to defeat Carthage and Greeks.

I like Impi and jaguar warrior a lot. They're cheap and pretty effective when built in large numbers. Other than that, I like the legionaire and the panzer.
Least useful: Man-o-war |

Numidian mercenary. They remain effective for so long. I've had games where they were still effective at the begining of the industrial age.

The Ansar warriors with their speed advantage help me crush the opponent through the entire middle ages...
Using the roads, I can move over 3 tiles, attack, kill and moved back to the city where I came from. The Babs never knew what hit them

I like the Panzer and the Impi, I thought the Berserk would come in handy but I played a game as the Vikings once and by the time I got the berserk calvary was right around the corner.
So I didn't find much use for them

Hoplite and Celtic Warrior.
Hoplite allows a defensive/pillage war against anyone (except maybe Immortals), and this leads to the downfall of the offensive civ. Celtic Warrior the movement/retreat abilities are awesome. Great at attack/defence/pillage you name it they do it. A bit expensive but 5 are enough to take down a whole other civ. |

I guess I like the quick ones; Rider, Gallic Sworsmen, Impi are all very nice. And the Imortal kinda rules too.

I like those offensive UUs, not too early (so as not to trigger a wasteful GA in the really early ages). Like riders, samurai etc. But not too late either.
I fail to see much use in defensive UUs, really pointless unless you're under heavy attk all the time... Esp as in the upped attk of a defender unit (like the French UU). And if you're under attk all the time, something's wrong with your gameplay anyways.

Jag warriors, every time. After that I'd say my favourites are the Immortals, Riders and Samurai, since all three give a real edge to the aggressive warmongering style of play that I prefer. Nothing beats a super early Jag swarm though

The Sipahi. These guys mow through enemies -- even riflemen (giving you your only viable mobile warfare option during that stalemate period post-rifles and pre-tank). Plus, the golden age is very nicely timed.
