A question about Moscow

I was playing the mod for a while when something hit me. If we're only going to have Moscow playable, then why don't we just call it Russia? I know its not that accurate, but if Novograd and the other Russian powers are just indys, then whats the point of just calling it Moscow?

Ukrainian did not become a national identity until much later, the first Russian kingdom was centered on Kiev.

You are right. But Duke of Awesome made a mistake. Kiev doesn't represent Ukraine, but the Kievan Rus. That is the same civ as you mentioned in your post.

We have dynamic country names, don't we? Kiev Rus can be called "Ruthenia" in a later age, while Moscow Rus can be called "Russia".

Hmmm. Ukrainians might disagree. AFAIK Ukraine claims the so-called Kiev Rus as its predecessor, just as Russia does. And as usual both claims have some pros and cons...
