A way to make OT worthwhile again

Would there be any rule against me PMing people urging them to put a certain user or two on ignore so their idiotic dominance of the forum can stop and make it worth visiting again?

I've been looking in while logged out and have come to the conclusion that if two posters were ignored then OT would be good again.

Hey Ralphy!

I can think of 2 that should be ignored but I wouldn't actually put them on ignore. I just wish people would stop responding to them. (I am guilty of this too but maybe if no-one responded I would be able to resist).

I can think of at least two people I'd ignore in this thread!

Just kidding. But a lot more than two people would need to be ignored to make OT worth spending my time in regularly. Then again, we might frequent different threads.

There are many annoying and stubborn posters in OT, but that isn't a reason to put them on ignore. Different political viewpoints is what makes this forum's OT one of the best on the web.

I'm guessing my list of 2 would be the same as RRW's, there are clearly 2 posters who are morally bankrupt, show astounding levels of ignorance, post the same old rubbish constantly, and never say anything even remotely amusing or insightful.

Maybe 3. I don't agree with almost anything you say, but you are still worth talking to. I dont agree with Pat, MB or Winner either, but all are worth talking to. But the tea-partiers are just beyond the pale. They involve themselves in every thread, they make ridiculous claim after ridiculous claim and basically have turned OT into a place for teenage sociopaths to parrot Glen Beck. Honestly, it makes me long for the days when Al Da Great was around.

Me too. I'm weak-willed, and I should just ignore them myself, but when they dominate the entire board it's almost impossible to. Hello, by the way, good to be talking to you again!

Feel free to PM me who you're thinking of.

I do agree there are a few posters who are a serious detriment to the forum, not sure how well ignoring them would work though.

Another approach is to report legit offenses. This can be spam, emo whining, inappropriate, etc....

But, yes, some kind of coordinated ignore might work where our polite requests to ban/remove go unfilled.

Why are you guys so worried about 2 other people's opinion? Have they broken any rules?

It's that they derail the thread and destroy discussion. It's nothing to do with beig afriad of thier opinions.

ROFL, its not their opinions. Its their non-stop posting and general destruction of interesting conversation.
