For the ones who have orgasms with spanish, there really exists a spanish language? then whats the difference between spanish and catalan or castelhano? not to mention that galician-speakers are more portuguese in vocabulary and sound. this is one of the things that makes me think a bit...because there isnt a british language not even a uk language, right?

There is no such thing as a spanish language, OFC ( in the same way there is no italian language ). What people normally call spanish it is actually castilian ...

One has to thank Spanish colonialism and the habit of many Castilianophones there naming it Spanish (because they got their language from there, roughly speaking).

Also Wikipedia prefers to use español over castellano.

But in the end, the name of the language IS castilian and it was already called that way before most of the countries of the map that call it spanish had a single person there speaking that language

According to Wikipedia, there are two names given to the Spanish language: Spanish (español) and Castilian (castellano).

According to Priberam Portuguese dictionary, espanhol means the same as castelhano, the language of Castela, so yes, there is a Spanish language. Considering that Castile no longer appears on the map, there's just no point in insisting that Spanish isn't the language of Spain.

If everyone calls it Spanish, it's futile trying to even try to correct it. The ones who need to adapt are those who still get pissy if one calls it Spanish rather than Castilian.

Spoiler:
Se formos naquela de que em Espanha não se fala espanhol, também podemos dizer que a Holanda não existe, que o nome oficial é Países Baixos.

Actually Castille appears in the map of the spanish autonomic governments ... but anyway, that is no argument. If in Spain they do not call castilian espanhol, ( I've been in some areas in Spain and the only one where some people called castilian spanish was in Madrid ... the rest of the country ,especially the more autonomic areas ( Euskadi, Galicia, Catalonia ....) calls it castilian and nothing more ), why would I?
Spoiler:
E já agora a Holanda é um dos Paises Baixos É só consultar o mapa para ver isso

The English also call Porto, Oporto, and we call London, Londres. And even the Spanish call Bragança, Braganza, and we call Galicia, Galiza. What the Spanish say is irrelevant as we do not speak Spanish (or Castilian ), and thus we can have Spanish being a synonym for Castilian, even if they don't do so. Not to mention that if even in Madrid some people call Castilian, Spanish, then what's the issue? Even them are divided in what to call it, why should we care?

As for the Holland example, I know that in the map it comes Netherlands, it's just that we both know that almost everyone calls them Holland. Just as in the Spanish case, it's technically wrong, but who cares? When we're talking about linguistics, I find it hard to believe that the majority can be wrong - it's not that most people don't know how to speak it, it's the language that needs to evolve (to put it differently, if most people call Castilian Spanish, then Spanish is also right.)

Even the dictionary says it's the same, why bother?

Spoiler:
Acho esta discussão ridícula, mais um bocado e seria como corrigir alguém que escreva "farmácia" porque antes escrevia-se "pharmácia"...

Ah well, Flanders is named Flanders officially, while Southern Netherlands would be more accurate. Still, if anyone would say 'Southern Netherlands' today they'd frown (also because people don't know much about their Heimat nor its history).

is weird to see how foreign people makes huge mistakes by using spain to everything that is castillan, or even portuguese, in the civ 4 game in the portuguese profile, theres written that portugal came independence from spain when in that time not even isabella (the first leader of spain) was born lololol

people makes huge confusions between spain and hispania, the same happens with language....well some people say "who cares", and i say "well is always good knowing something instead of lack of knowledge"

@Hilo

Go to (...)\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Beyond the Sword\Assets\Sounds\Units and open the files started with "NativeAmerica" with Windows Media Player or equivalent ( there are 20 wav files of those ). Then you translate them and post it in here

I found some Akkadian translations!

OK, so I found this site: http://www.premiumwanadoo.com/cuneif...ary/search.php

In this dictionary you can write English transcription and translate it.
I listened to the Akkadian sentences, and got a few.
The accent is similiar to Hebrew, so I could somehow understand:

BabylonOrder-000: It is probably "Kima Teresh". Well, Kima has a few meanings:
1. when after , if , like , as
2. when
3. [Trade] how much ?
So it is probably "what to do" or something like that.

BabylonOrder-002: It sounds like "Anna". I didn't find it, but I found "Ana", and it means: to, for, in order to.
So it is probably "(where) to?", or "(what) for?", or things like that, maybe in some kind of an ancient slang.

BabylonOrder-004: It sounds like "Balu umma rush-tishu". I found Balu. It means:
without ; without permission of s.o., without knowledge of s.o. ; conj + subj. : without doing sth., without having done sth.
I also found Uma, which means Now. I couln't understand the rest.

BabylonOrder-005: It sounds like "Gamra qipshu".
Gamra means:
complete, total ; final, ultimate
I found Qiptu, not Qipshu. Qiptu means:
trust ; belief, credence ; appointment ; loan, credit ; ana qīpti nadānu to sell on credit ; bēl qīpti creditor
So it is very clear. It means probably full commitment, complete belief...

BabylonSelect-005: It is "Minu ṭemu"
Minu means:
1. mīnu : no , not
2. mīnu : what?
3. mīnu : no , negative answer
ṭemu means:
1. ṭēmu : [Moral life] 1) (fore)thought , plan(ning) , design / aim / dessein / decision / purpose (of gods)
2. ṭêmu : [Moral life → Duty] G : to look after (a person) , to take care of , to keep under careful scrutiny , to watch / protect ; N : : (meaning unclear) ;
So I guess it means: "What's the plan?" or "What's the decision?"

BabylonSelect-006: "Minu"
It is probably a question: "What?"

And that's all I could understand.
