Duke Nukem Forever, alive!

http://videogames.yahoo.com/events/p...at-pax/1409763

Apparently it's over at PAX, -playable-.
I'm just... -wow-. This game was announced -13- years ago. Back when I was hardcore into FPSes. Back in the days of Heat.Net. Back when Blood, Unreal, Shadow Warrior, Quake, etc. were big.
I am so happy.

well Duke has never really had a great game since its been a series mostly about the shock factor and movie references. Back then it was cutting edge and cool because we were just giggling children/teenagers who found flipping people the bird to be the pinacle of being a badass, try it these days and we'll likely just roll our eyes and load up some Half life.

Duke will either change to the point its not recognizably Duke or it'll stay the same and look immature and silly by modern standards.

Or Left 4 Dead, Team Fortress 2, Resident Evil, Fallout 3...

At least Valve is able to deliver it's promise (so far) and not have there games suffer the fate of Duke Nukem Forever.

Personally, I would not enjoy Duke Nukem now adays since I'd be like "Meh, shooting aliens into a bloody mess", "Seeing shocking nude women in a game, big whoop", etc

Everytime someone makes a fat joke about Gabe Newell, Episode 3 gets pushed back a day.

From what I've seen it looks like the Duke will still be The Duke as he was before, albeit different developer. I haven't played any of the Duke games though, but I am looking forward to it and I really have no problem with a game that is pure fun and quotes like this looks to be.

That and being able to draw on the mission white board is a sweet interactive touch.

Gearbox are relatively good developers; I'd expect them not to utterly screw this project up.

There was a huge line for Duke Nukem Forever so I didn't bother. Got lots of praises for my costume though!

Duke was one of my fav FPS games back in the day. Was the first one I remember playing against people online. Pipe bombs, shrink ray, rocket launcher.... fun stuff.

Not sure why people are hating here....Duke was fun and if done right, will be fun again.

Dont be a hater.

It was a great game from my childhood.

That's how it should stay. No need to spoil the memories with some new crap FPS.

Dont be such a pessimist.

Then don't play it, and it might not necessarily be crap. It doesn't invalidate your old games (although I understand why if it turns out to be mediocre crap it would be really sad).
