Will Leader animations work on DX9?

I have not a DX11 card, my system is running XP. Will the leader animations work or am I just pissing in the wind?

On what setting? The best I can do is "low" and if i set it any higher, the game crashes.

If your setting it above low and it is crashing, it could be your system isn't capable of processing anything more. Give us your system specs and a dxdiag so we can check.

Not at home, so I'll do the dxdiag later.

Have a Quad-Core Athlon 64
4GB of Ram
Win XP SP3
Nvidia 7600 GTS 256MB

It runs the opening sequence flawlessly, so i'm puzzled as to how it can't handle the leader animations.

Bipptiy-bump...any thoughts on the dxdiag? Should I be running in DX9 mode? Will that change my leaderhead performance?

If you turned AA on (maybe in the graphics driver), please try disabling it.

I'm looking right now at the graphics card list in the 2K forums (click), and i'm not that sure about yours, but it could be, that you are under the minimum requirements (i'm not a hardware guy, maybe someone else [tokala?] can confirm this).

You should definitely running it with DX9 and best with graphics settings for leaders set to low.

According to Tom's Hardware Hierarchy Chart the 7600GS is in the same class as a 6800, 7300GT, & HD5470. Comparing these cards to the 2K list it is well below minimum requirements.

Looking at your specs, it looks like your graphics card is the weakest link. By the way are you using 64 bit Windows XP?

Anyway, I'm using merely 32 bit XP with 3.25 gig ram, but my video card is a geforce 9800 with 1 gig ram, and I can run everything at maximum settings including a resolution of 1600x900.

Just 32-bit winxp, figured it was my card. Well, time to start saving wooden nickels.

rest of the game is swimmingly good, though.

Edit: thanks for the recommendation, though, that one seems like it's in my budget. (the 9800 GT)

As a fair warning, I have been having a few crashes after playing for about two or three hours in a row. However, the game always starts up again just fine after.

It definitely seems like trying to get the game to run on XP is an uphill battle. You might consider upgrading to Windows 7 or a 64 bit system.
