Civ5 Are Civ V avatars coming ?

I know it's not the highest priority, but it would be cool to see the CiV leaderhead medallions from the game setup menu as avatar choices. Sure, I already have my CiV avatar, but I'd like seeing more of the CiV art around the forums.

This has been discussed among the staff, and the conclusion has been drawn that there shall be no CiV avatars. We just think it's too much hassle for too little gain.

Really? I didn't see you posting in the staff forum about this.

Impersonating a staff member is a banable offense....

No, but he implied it by stating "we discussed this in the staff forum....".

Look, I'm not going to argue semantics with you. He shouldn't have said it. Just accept that he was wrong in posting that and move on.

I imagine that the admins will get to it when they can find the time. Atm, they are rather busy, what with the release of CIV and what.

Of course. I know just keeping everything up and running and putting out flame wars is pretty exhausting. Just glad to know they'll turn up eventually. Thanks.

If there was a general idea of a format that is placed out such as avatar dimensions as well as style (with or without the circle frame). I'm sure that many of us with some sufficient photoshop skills could lend a helping hand on creating some CivV avatars. This is just a general idea to toss into the hat .

Could the images be extracted from the game files? *has no earthly idea if this is possible*

Easily. Open up the game. Have the images occur naturally. Take a screenie. Open up a program that can shrink the image down on the screen. Take a screenie of the smaller image. Crop it. Ta-daa.

Yes, yes, that's how I got my current avatar, by doing all of that from the image on the civ website.

But before the game spits out the images, they're called from somewhere, right? And getting at those images, before they've been put on a display with a bunch of other images, their quality distorted by the game settings and the computer capabilities, would yield better results than going through the screenshot method.

But we can't access the files yet, because the modding tools have not been released.
