Number of people playing Civ5

One interesting thing about it being on steam is there's now this:

http://store.steampowered.com/stats/

Code:
Current Peak Today Game
53,544 61,636 Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 - Multiplayer
52,056 59,627 Counter-Strike
49,555 63,028 Counter-Strike: Source
30,474 43,009 Sid Meier's Civilization V
28,408 28,408 Team Fortress 2

Well, lots of people love civilization, especially the new number 5.

i have checked those stats before, and the fact that Civ 5 is that high is VERY impressive. Cracking into TF2, Couterstrike, MW2 territory is big for Civ 5 and strategy games in general.

Personally, Im not a fan of the game as it is, but it is great as a Civ fan to see people are buying it and playing it. This means that there is a greater likelihood of expansions, Civ VI, etc...

Actually those numbers are a bit worrying - a brand new release should be further up.

not sure about that. nothing really has topped CS or MW2 in quite a while on Steam. ESPECIALLY a strategy game.

Not true. Most games don't make a dent in MW2 and CS/S numbers. The fact that Civ V is that high up (in fact, at night Civ V is usually number one on that list) is pretty impressive. It's not SC2 numbers, but it's pretty good numbers.

Sorry. At night in Brazil. Usually when I check the stats at night here, Civ V is in first.

It did actually, the week after release someone posted these same stats here and Civ5 was at over 70,000 players ABOVE EVERYONE ELSE.

There's a reason for that. They removed the clock and the alarm feature from the game...

WHAT DO YOU MEAN IT'S 5AM?!?!

Ok just one more turn...

9:00 pm Darkmaster's time would be 7:00 pm for the east coast and Canada. That would put a large majority of US playing. At 11:00 - the west coast will be starting to come online.

At least I now play the game in windowed mode so I can see the clock on lower right corner. And I still managed to play the whole night 'til 5am. Just one more turns...

Clock should come back.

Firaxis: You know if we're unemployed, we won't have money to buy games right?
