Are the Aztecs in civ5 the most accurate...
represantion of an empire in a civilization game ever?
From the sources I've read about the Aztecs, it justs makes a lot of sense. Since they conquered other people, but usually would require tributes, instead of simply annexing their lands (creating puppets), and also using prisioners of war for sacrifice (gaining culture for every enemy kill). |

They were sacrificing people every 52 years ! The numbers were probably less than what was depicted by the conquerors. The floating gardens is a pretty neat choice too. Other traits are their merchant spies and their education system.

I had a game where I had only three cities (to represent the Aztec Triple Alliance) and went for Cultural victory. It was quite fun. Accurate? No idea.

Most of the people they sacrificed (which was far more than every 52 years, their Empire didn't last very long and would likely have imploded without Spanish intervention) were captives from raids and battles and much of their land were subjugated people who absolutely hated their conquerors.

Yep i think the aztecs have a pretty accurate UA, they did seek during their wars to knock down an enemy in order to offer him as sacrifice ( aztec flower war ), ottoman UA is crap especially since you can't really use your " privateers " to disturb sea trade lanes or pillage ocean tiles without the diplomatic hit

That makes sense. The Corsairs provoked almost every maritime states in Europe into an alliance against the Ottomans.
