Basically I had this chokepoint problem where I was at war with mongols but not with greece. However there was a greek horseman sitting on the one tile I could use to attack the city and for no reason I can fathom ( other than to piss me off) turn after turn I waited but that horseman never went anywhere. I would like an option to confront the ai about blocking me so if they are doing it on purpose I can declare war in good conscience. As it is I went to war with greece for what I consider no good reason at all and it was pointless and stupid just because units OF DIFFERENT CIVS cant occupy the same tile. They should be able to or else I should be able to call them out on passive aggressive behavior. It is really frustrating that no one appears to have played this game prior to its release I cant imagine yall didnt come across these lil annoyances.
It is totally awesome by the way if greece was doing it on purpose by the way I just want an option to call them out - as well as 'you have troops on my border' why do I get called out on these things and have not the same option. |

right ive had the same gripe. the ai can tell us to move units from their territory (even if the units are nowhere near their territory, doesnt make much sense) but we cant?! i know the ai is stupid but that doesnt mean that they should have diplomatic options we as players do not.

So the two solutions are allowing units of different civs on the same tile and allowing for a diplomatic option. The former option would probably overpower alliance warfare, so the latter would appear to be the best way to go.

Just to clearify... is this a problem of the AI actually blocking all possible movements by occupying the tiles or is it a problem of the AI blocking movement by zone of control?
If the latter is true that would be zone of control is active for civilizations that are not at war. If that is the case this should be removed. it makes no sense. |

I'd also like to be able to move naval units through "occupied" tiles. After all, it is possible to move one of your land units "through" another civs units (if you have enough movement points). But the same doesn't work for naval units: in a game, Japan, which had open borders with me, "blockaded" my coastal city (which only had access to the ocean in one hex) with a trireme, and I could not move my fishing boats out of the city because of this!
For these cases, it would be nice to be able to ask the other civ to move their units, maybe even through a right click menu option for the offending unit. This should AT LEAST be possible for units that are in your territory. EDIT: in fact, in your own territory you shouldn't even have to ask...you should just be able to move the unit (one hex in any direction). After all, you are the ruler of the land here! |

I would use the share tile approach, but with the condition that both civs cannot be at war. The diplomatic option would probably be exploited by humans.

It is was merely 'cannot be at war with anyone', then the purpose of it would be defeated (avoiding neutral units that are in the way of your attack). So that leaves the two aforementioned options. Maybe if it was that two civs cannot have units on the same tile if they are at war with a mutual opponent, it might work, but even then you'd still have problems where Civ A is at war with Civ B, but Civ C is at war with both Civ B and Civ D.
