Would you be interested...

In a trade agreement with England?

(times five hundred)

...The point of this thread is that it would be nice if I could turn off leader voices.

That's the only sound clip that annoys me, but it REALLY annoys me.

Well you can reduce the volume of speech to 0.

Speech annoyed me in Civ 4 and it still annoys me in Civ 5, so I turn it down in the volume menu. Simple

Darius annoys me more for some reason. It would be nice if that sound clip played only once while you adjust the trade details.

I don't mind Elizabeth's voice for some reason. Not even the trade agreement line. Guess I'm weird.

Wu Zetian sounds like my mom when she's really sleepy.

The only voice I don't like is Napoleon's. For some reason just hearing his voice makes me want to conquer him. Smug little bastard.

They really put NO effort into England's leader voice. It's just terrible when compared to so many others and it really sticks out. Hence, why this phrase is so bloody annoying.

It's an awful English accent! People over here don't talk like that at all, really!

Personally, I turn all the sound from civ off and listen to music as I'm playing

Well, it's how one might expect a queen to talk (although queen Lizzy I was from a long time ago, so the accent is probably a bit off for that). However, that doesn't make it any less annoying, or any more like how most English people talk (or anyone for that matter, who isn't doing an impersonation of royalty)

I hate Elizabeths voice too. They should have hired Blanchett for that

I'm hesitant to post this, but it's easily findable through a google search. Elizabeth's voice actress

She's Canadian (all the voice actors are from Montreal, if I'm not mistaken), but she also studied in England and works as a voice coach for accents for what that's worth.

I hope she has a regular day job.

ALL of the leader voices sound AWFUL to me ... totally understated, terse, little intonation, sound like they're being read off a bit of paper by a university student earning $10 for his efforts, usually too quiet, and nothing at all like how a ruler would speak ... except maybe Montezuma and Hammy.

Personally I am a moron, therefore, I like that the designers have focused on speech and graphics instead of game-play mechanics.

The less micromanagement and options...the better for me. I just like to click next turn until I win!

I just hope that the next DLC includes Aztec warrior action-figurines.

Askia says No (tuk-tuk, or somethin') in such a childish manner -- i formally refuse to learn how to speak or understand Swahili or any other African languages.

A modded drop-down list (during setup) where we could select what if any voice-overs or music or effects we'd like to keep active -- might be a good idea.
So anybody interested?

I'm quite busy with two other huge projects myself, LPR & Z-Eras (enhanced to integrate an indirect sort of Pedia focusing on Elements available & their usefulness for specific Winning attempts, btw).

Honorable Pawn is one of the funniest trolls ever.

I agree about the voices. There is also an option in config.ini to disable leader screens altogether and replace them with sweet gray nothingness which I use when I mod.
