"More Cities Per Civ" mod

This RAR contains 2 files: An excel spreadsheet of Cities and their populations AND a .txt file containing info and installation instructions.

v1.1 is the latest version (as of 12/31, 6pm Eastern)

This mod can be installed with any other mod. Just copy the city list from the Excel spreadsheet into your Civ3 .bic file or PTW .bix file under the Civilizations tab for each civilization.

Feedback is greatly appreciated. I am still working on expanding city lists for other civs also.

Edit: Removed v1.0, uploaded v1.1

Included in v1.1 - America, England, France, Germany

I like to have as many city names as possible. having said that, 151 does look like overkill.

"All state capitals" is fine in theory, but I still think England has first claim on Dover and Lincoln...

Edit: Skimming down the list, there's a few others that may need to come out on the "prior claim" basis - Birmingham, Manchester and St.Petersburg being the most obvious. There are a few other possibles as well, although I guess that English towns like Boston and Newark have been overtaken.

Also, I need Honolulu & Hilo for my Polynesian (=combination Hawaiian/Maori) civ.

BTW, how do you get the download counter to show up...?

The download counter apparently showed up on its own...

As for duplicate city names between different Civs, I'm pretty sure it doesn't cause a problem. The only time I've gotten an error is when trying to name (or rename) a city to something I'm already using. I am at work right now and can't really test that, but I remember using "Birmingham" and "Dover" as names in a game where the English were using the same, and it didn't cause any problems. The only place I can think of that it might be an issue is if you capture a city with a name that's identical to one of yours, i.e. you're the Americans and you have a city called "Birmingham" and you capture a city from the English called "Birmingham". I'll have to test that one out tonight or tomorrow. If someone could test and let me know what happens, that would be great!

As far as interfering with other peoples' custom civs, I don't know what to say. I'm going to finish this with the standard civs from PTW (what are there, about 24 civs now?) If there are city names you are using in a custom civ, feel free to edit the list as you see fit. This is just a project I wanted to do and thought other people might enjoy it as well.

Maybe if others have the same ideas for custom civs, I could incorporate those as well.

As for 151 being overkill, I play on a custom-sized map (300x300) with 16 civs, so as I kill off other civs and take over their land, I usually end up with A LOT of cities. I don't think I've ever hit 151, but now I have a goal!!

Its not possible for two citys to have the same name at once. the first one who uses the name gets it!!!

It wont create any problems since the civ will just skip that name if he finds that its taken and choose the next one on the list =D

The download counter shows if you upload via the Reply To Thread option instead of the Upload File link.

This is great. I like it. I have yet to implement it but it's nice to have them handy, with stats and who controls it and all

I could contribute some cities to the Chinese part of the spreadsheet.

Good! Eboracum can be Roman while York is English!!!!!

The Greeks could have something like 20 variations upon Alexandria! (In honor of all the Cities the Great renamed)

I vote for Wapakoneta as an American City!!!

St. Petersburg doesn't have to be Russian. Petrograd & Lenningrad would work too.

When I was born, it was Leningrad.

You could take up collection on Generals/Admirals also.

Such as the English gaining Adm. Cunningham & Drake.

I say bring on as many names as you can find... I always wind up going through all the names, and then having "new". Gets to the point where I start naming "washington woods" or "north washington"... definatley need alot of names.. but this is just my humble opinion....

Just bring out all the names you can find, and don't worry about name overlap.
And list new Great Leaders too. The Babylonians have *EIGHT*, while the militaristic civ Germany has four.
