Question Picking more than eight civs

Ok this probably is a newbie question, but I cannot find it anywhere on the board:

Is there the possibility to play PTW-Games with more than eight civs on the map ? For example 3 Human players and say 10 Computer-Civs ? if so, how do you set it? because in the host-menu there are only 8 slots....

Thanks for Help,

Wolf

I think this is really a problem. I played my first mp game last night, and to my dismay, the scenario I set up, on a world map, was almost unplayable, because of this limit on civs. This really should be fixed.

I think it would take way too long to play with 10 12 or even 16 civs!

I think it should be up to the players what kind of game is too long, not firaxis. If it's possible to do it, and I want to, and I paid for the game, we should be allowed to do so.

Yeah, I don't see why the limit's there for PBEM games as well. They shld remove it, at least in the case of email games.

People who are asking to play more than 8 civs are clearly NOT playing via the in-game GameSpy lobby. Have you ever tried to get 8 people together to play??? Ridiculously impossible, but 10... 12... Insane. I can only assume that you are doing this via DirectIP with 10-16 friends whom you know and have committed for a specific time period or at regular intervals. Why else would anyone even propose to play on a map larger than small???

If you are in fact playing as I have described above, let me know for I am interested in a game that goes on longer than the 2 hour small map scrimmage that is about the only game that can ever happen via the public lobby before the host crashes or everyone quits.

I play with a bunch of people on the Texas Tech University server, so its a big LAN game, and I have a world scenario on Zeb's Earth map, heavily modified rules, and added units, and we fill the other spots with computer, but it's stupid to just erase half of the civs, because of this stupid limit. I don't care if it's not practical for gamespy, I paid the same price as everyone else, and if I can get a big game going, then it should be my choice, I'm sure it's not very hard to enable this. You can have computer foes round out slots you cannot fill up. I too was apalled that there can only be 8 civs. This ruins large or huge maps.
