Spectator Mode?
Is there a way to spectate online? Can you open or close your game to spectators?

It would be a neat feature but there are inherent issues that would need to be addressed. First you would have to disable chat unless everyone was cool with the spectator because they could basically tell you everything about your opponents: what wonders you've started, where your units are, what strategic resources you have, etc. Additionally, anyone 'watching' is like having another player in the game and their system would add to slowing down the game. If you enable 'complete kills', you can basically allow a player to just walk around the board the whole game, but that would be wicked inefficient and there is still the fog of war. But yeah, it would be neat. |
