Quick question about mods

I'm looking at downloading some mods(from this site) and I was wondering if there have ever been any problems with spyware/malware or virus in the mods. I'm always very leery about downloading files from the net, so this is no exception.

The mod I was looking at in particular was Rise of Mankind A New Dawn or Legends Of Revolution

I'm not aware of any problems with viruses.
(but some mods get missrecognized by some virus scanners)

For the files in our database, you have to be aware of the fact that you can only upload them after you've been registered for 30 days and you have 30 posts, so bots can't add files there.
And about the mentioned mods...the modders have their own subforums and are known "senior users" here.

If a mod has been downloaded by a few thousand people and is still available, you can be pretty sure it is not going to do anything bad (other than, perhaps, consume every minute of free time you have, plus some you really should have spent doing other things).

Since most mods have the C++ source code attached, you always have the possibility to go over it and compile it yourself...

Plus some of the mods on this site can even turn an unsuspecting civplayer into a..... MODDER!!!!
(this usually only happens around full moons).
