hello. most current version? and stuff.
Hi. I love Fall from Heaven. It's brilliant. It's addictive. I play it so much, it's unbelievable how freaking awesome it is.
But I've been wondering, from the game and the civilopedia, do I have the most current version of the game? It seems a bit unpolished (but still quite excellent! One of the best games I've ever played!), with the civilopedia lacking entries (such as that of the Azer), and some stats seem off. Also, there are references to mechanics that are missing in the game (what comes to mind now are council resolutions mentioned but not present). And, the FfH wiki mentions something about Balseraph gypsy caravans. I don't see those, either. I believe I have version .40 Is that the last one? And will there be more to come? I read on the forum that Kael now works for Stardock, and I realize that this is a mod, made by volunteers that likely have jobs and families to tend to, but... I'm greedy for more! Any hope of continuing improvements? Finally: where can I get my hands on FfH lore? I found the Erebus bestiary, but is there more? I'm engrossed! I checked the lore forums, but it's rather chaotic and hard to sift through. I'm particularly fascinated with Ceridwen. thanks! |

I don't think FfH itself is likely to be updated further; It's been several months now since the last update.
Two of the modmods, Rise from Erebus and Master of Mana, are actively developed however.

You are actually using a VERY old version. Latest is 0.41, patch version o. You can find these from the first page on the bug forum, amopng other palces:
http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=308020 There have been quite a lot of changes since then. It is unlikely thatt here will be further development. When Kael left he tried to fix the most dominant/problematic bugs but more development or even bug fixes on the main mod is unlikely. However, there are a lot of modmods that people like both for their features and also as a change of pace. Some of these are still in development, some aren't. Best wishes, Breunor |

For Lore, all I could say is check the lore forum.
Good threads to start with: Lore Compendium - http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=272917 Tales from Erebus (Modmod Lore Compendium) - http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=334470 Grand Unified Story Thread - http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=350954

I think some of the previous posters have been avoiding promoting any particular "modmod", but I would like to mention that Tholal's More Naval AI modmod has some much-needed bug fixes that patch O lacks, and at the same time doesn't fiddle with any of the FfH lore (e.g. by introducing new civs or mechanics).
Nothing's been posted in a long while, but I thought I'd ask, has anybody taken up xienwolf's mantle to update the FfH 2 Manual? Has all of that information been moved to the FfH Wiki now, and then gaps filled in? Doesn't seem to be, but I'm still hoping.

Neither the manual nor the wiki seem to be quite up to date, but the manual seems to be closer. I'd volunteer to update the manual myself if I knew how, but it's a bit awkward to try and edit the PDF directly, especially since I just have the pdf reader and don't own a copy of adobe whateveritisthatletsyoueditstuff. Does anyone know if there's a source file for it in some other format?

That's a very good point, and I need to start remembering to mention his.
Both MoM and RifE add a lot of new content; Tholal's mod tends to stick to improving the AI and fixing bugs, without adding content.

There's actually a lot of stuff in the civilopedia, if you read the entries for the various heroes and leaders. A long time ago I went through the whole text file to clean it up; that meant that I ended up reading every 'pedia entry -- some really good stuff in there.

I agree that Tholal's More Naval AI mod is a good place to start ...
I'll also plug that I'm working on a mod-mod of my own that's far less of a game changer than MoM or Rife

I'm not sure about editing, but I do believe OpenOffice and it's sucessor LibreOffice come with PDF creating functionality. I think editing them is reserved for documents created by them, but I haven't experimented with it yet.

Hi. I'm going to hijack my own thread to ask this question:
Was anyone else disappointed with Auric Ascended? Yeah, he's got 60 strength, that's pretty amazing, but he becomes vulnerable pretty quickly, too. He can only attack a city once before he's wiped. If he could get promotions, especially march, that would make him far more viable. As it is, he's only good for spamming that snow spell. I must say, though, that his version of it is pretty sweet. But not sweet enough for a god! |

He's far far stronger in RifE.

Rise from Erebus; An FfH modmod, one of the larger ones. Link is in my sig.
You can check his stats here: http://greyfox.me/rife/wiki/index.ph...Auric_Ascended One thing to consider is he's harder to attain. You receive an Auric Ulvin unit at game start, and must keep him alive in order to ascend.

Patch would have to be installed as well as the main download. Neither rely on FfH at all.
