That is good. We aren't ready to declare just yet. There's still a bit of setup to do but all the military units are close to the 'arena'. Have a look. I'd like to give Windfury a chance to respond and fizbankovi would be next but if we don't hear from either of them, we'll consider your turn as a swap for theirs.

Windfury, fizbankovi?

Okay then, you take this turnset and if Windfury shows up, he can follow you.

@2metra - it looks like there's going to be lots of warring but your turn will come. In the meantime, do you have any strategic ideas?

Everyone is welcome to contribute ideas. It's the whole point of the SGOTM, to suggest, consider, debate and decide.

I will take a deeper look at the situation and will catch up with the last page and a half and will come with ideas these days.

That is great, 2metra. I'm very curious to see what you and the other generals think and what tactics will work here.

Poor Isabel - she is the real example why going too much religion is not good.

Have any of you guys saw her strong in any game?

Well, I took a look and I can say we are doing perfect military-wise. My greedy eyes are only looking at all those settling sites and I can hardly resist. I am always greedy for land. This my land obsession usually gives me absolute dominance or screws me bad to someone smaller and more technologically advanced player (pitboss I am talking about).

Anyway. One thing I noticed in our game is we don't have enough espionage points to do any espionage mission against Ragnar, not to speak about such costly as city disorder.

Yes, I realize that now. I thought about changing the espionage but because I don't use spies very often, I just left it on Willem. There are still a few moves before declaration but I don't know if that will help. If not, then maybe use a spy to explore the rest of Ragnar's land?

How are the plans going, fizban?

Yeah, the moves we have before the declaration should be sufficient.

I doubt few turns will be enough with 4 EP/turn. We have like 50-60 and I can guess we will need 200-300-400 points to do disorder in their capitol. 50% more casualties. Good that Ragnar dont have much army in Nidaros. We will still lose about 8-9 units. We need to continue producing units to kill that Viking off.

Sorry, I assumed we would be doing 100% espionage on ragnar instead of science or wealth

I think that with intelligent warring there should be no further need for unit production. But I'm not positive.

Do we want to use catapults, or just mass swords and spies?
This looks like a really complex position. I must say.
Construction would be great for forts, there is more than one peninsula we could cut trough with just one fort.

Your map is pretty well what I figure should happen but it would be super if some of our war generals could comment on the procedure. Ragnar has horse archers, in case I didn't mention seeing them in Nidaros.

As far as our next tech goes, what do people think? Construction, Drama or ??? Also, we might want to build some further units besides the ones we have. I believe there are a few theatres and courthouses being produced.

Enlighten us.

So, who has advice for the war effort? We do need to keep up our pace, June 25 is not far off.

Actually, I think we need to take our time here. Losing our army to Ragnar vs. keeping it for next conquest is a huge difference in this game. Many teams are recognizing the importance of the first war and are at about the same spot turn-wise where we are. We're substantially behind plastic ducks and one short straw in terms of early development, but we're quite competitive with everyone else (i just gathered this from graphs).

It will be pretty easy to play through the turns after we conquer two ai's (to the point where many of us could do it in one sitting and lose 5-15 turns to ideal play, but not 50 turns; if we misplay this stage of the game it can easily cost us 50 turns).

if no one puts up a military plan within ~30 hours, i'll put up a first draft. but i'd be just as happy to just look over someone else's draft version.

Good points!

Over the last while we seem to have lost a few of our troops. We haven't heard from Windfury and we're likely down to seven players. I put this idea out to the team now based on dima's insight into the importance of this turnset.

What I suggest is changes to our roster. We now have dima and jj playing back to back, something we wouldn't have done with our original roster of having a stronger player follow a weaker one, followed again by a stronger player.

As this was to be Windfury's turnset, and now passed on to fizbankovi, would a change of roster be of interest? What do you say, fizban? Would you prefer to swap with one of our war generals, say 2metra as he is keen to play? What about:

***Tentative Roster Change:

2metra (up)
fizbankovi (on deck)

dima42
The Dude Esq
justjohn
enKage
keath (just played)

If we don't mix up the roster, then maybe we should analyze this position to get the best offensive start against Ragnar.

Nice call, fizban. I would find this next turnset a challenge, too, and if we all pay close attention, I'm sure we are going to learn something good.

@2metra -- Can you prepare a draft for the military plan that we can all look at and comment?

Any other thoughts on Roster alteration?
