Question on tech tree
Being only a creative narrator, not a programmer I've been wondering one thing on my mind lately.
Is it possible to have two distinctive different tech trees "inside" the one tech tree. And if so, is it possible to actually have AI to do any sort of rational choices between those two. The Idea I have in mind is an alternative reality mod, where fairy tale creatures live peacefully side by side with our native people. So there are the Romana (Romans), Haudenosaunee (Iroquois), Middle Kingdom (Chinese) etc. Techtree idea is to have three (or even if possible two) different techtree, one based on magik, one on physical sciences and one on faith. However I do not know if this is possible, and if it is, can I interlink those techs so that certain techs require maybe two trees to be at certain level. I have tried to research some tech trees, but have yet to find one that would be what Im looking for. Maybe this was very vaguely and strangely sentenced question, but I hope someone realised what I was looking for ![]() One base tech, splitting into three individual tech trees that interwine at certain points, but don't have to. (You can research just magic, all the way up before researching even simplest of wheels). Thanks Oh, and if someone wants more knowledge on the background and the world, I am more than happy to share it

You can, and I think it's fairly easy. Just one question: may all 2-3 trees be available to all players, or do you want to block trees based on players?

All trees should be available to all races, but some would include exclusive techs based on prereq-techs given to each nation.
Is there some kind of simple tech tree editor that I could test this out on? |

1) One base tech, splitting into 2-3 separate trees; 2) Some civs have more affinity with one than the other; 3) Each civ (or group of) would have a few exclusive techs. Is that it? I never heard of any, but you never know. |

An excellent Tech-Tree editor by Indiestone. It proved invaluable to me in my NiGHTS mod before I actually learned how to do things manually in XML and LUA.
