What the heck does Lucian do?

What does he do, he is not strong, doesn't have hero, no abilites, what does he do? seems useless to me so why do they put him in?

He helps the early rush and exploration.

He can more easily defeat barbs then wariors and get quickly promoted and lead an early conquest. Just a little edge to the Doviello since they are one of the weaker civs.

Lucian Cold Iron isn't in base FfH2, only in one (or more?) of the modmods, I think Master of Mana and its predecessor, Wild Mana. Not sure if he's in RifE.

As I recall, he's an upgrade of Lucian and has the Hero promotion. Should be information about this in the 'pedia for MoM.

Against the higher difficulty AI, he doesn't do too much since they start with a quite large defending force. Basically, gives a little bit of a boost to exploration.

Against low difficulty AI's or human players, he can get a swift kill, or heavily choke a neighbour while you build up a warrior rush.

I don't agree, I play at high level and having Lucian early can be a real big boost. On immortal or diety I usually rush the first Civ I can find with my worldspell and try to get two or thrree ealy cities. Having Lucian can make a difference.

Alright, well I bow to your judgement on the matter. I don't play Doviello nearly enough to get a good feel for how useful Lucian is at the higher difficulties. It just seems that when the AI are starting with multiple archers, a single strength 4 guy isn't going to be that much of an edge.

those are actually 2 separate issues. the fact that the AI starts with bonus units doesn't make Lucian any less powerful.

just make sure you don't lose him early on, he can become quite powerful if you level him early on barbs and particularly animals. with some combat promos and some animal promos, he's badass
