Annoying, I'll have to say Mehemmed. He's always a "gimmie gimmie gimmie" type of person that I usually get so annoyed with, I wipe him off the face of the planet.
Most hated... I'll have to go with Shaka. Just when you least expect or prepared for it, BOOM. He DOWs on you. |

Sometimes it's better to just tell him his head would look good on the end of a pole as soon as you are even only slightly ready than to wait for him to tell you that you're a fool and now they shall destroy you. The same applies to Monty.

The guy who just beat me to the library @95%. No idea who it was. Everyone is isolated until optics. That bastard will pay, though.

The AI that annoys me the most is Cyrus, i did'nt like him in vanilla and i hate him now, spams cities everywhere, stealing my sites and resources.
Mansa musa can be a irrateting little tech weasle if left unchecked. Sury is annoying to me as a guy who builds a army while going for culture or space, i lost LHC pacal to one of his culture victories. Shaka generally dose'nt do very well in my games for some reason, one game i had that was on noble he peacevassled to ghandi, of all people. He is scary when he has nukes though! Qin pisses me off when i have to face him on the earth map, cathy too (but just give her horses and she wont be a problem, )Julius can be a problem aswell if left unchecked. Bismark went ballistic in my game of NC Hayuna Capac (which was my first monarch game), he attacked stalin, ramesses and had an entire cointent to himself. I went for space and he ended attacking me 2 turns to victory and nuked me. I still won though, but man was he scary in that game. |

"least expected" time for his DOW. You start expecting it at turn 30 and the threat level continues to increase. You almost have to declare on him before anyone else or he'll hit you when you are at war with someone else. Never trust a psycho. |

Shaka usually is hard to handle most of my games and has a habit of getting close to domination. This game however is not one of those times as he capitulated to Saladin after losing all of 0 cities in a war. How pathetic the great Zulu leader being such a coward in this game.

2- Just shy of 1000 failgold. But I really wanted that thing. I might have to switch gears now and win music. I don't have much experience with culture, though, and the two existing academies might look really dumb. |

As far as warmongerers go, Monty is nothing to fear. Ragnar, Shaka and either of the Mongolian leaders are more capable warmongerers than he is. Imo, Ragnar is probably the best of the warmongers, since financial allows him to keep up in tech rate.

Recently, Monty has been manageable. I just butter him up in the first few hundred years and he leaves me alone. Shaka, on the other hand, has betrayed me even when he was pleased towards me. I am much more scared of him. Plus, Monty attacks me with jaguars in the 1000AD. Shaka actually keeps a somewhat upgraded army. I find shaka to be the biggest warmonger threat.

In terms of annoying, it's either Sury or Izzy for me (see rant a few pages ago about how much I hate izzy). Sury just always hates me because he ends up a different religion than me.
In terms of actually scaring me, Shaka never ever shows up in any of my games, so I never really have to deal with him. Zara Yaquob, Quin Shi, actually most of the warmongers are not that scary, since they have swarms of outdated units (Rags is an exception), I think the REXers are most intimidating, especially if they're separated from you until astronomy, in which case they dominate wherever they started and sometimes have one or more vassals, and you end up having to war with them, since: A. They are usually a different religion from you, B. They will win some kind of victory if you don't, since they have zero threats besides you in most cases, and C. They usually decide they hate you eventually and suprise! An armada of up-to-date units arrive at your doorstep.

Sury's definitely a jackass, and looks ugly. I hate having diplomacy with him. And like Sitting Bull he often makes ridiculous demands and is hard to please.
But unlike SB, he also backstabs and is prone to go to war. Ugh. |

Sitting Bull. Techs way to slowly, but insane espionage. I crush him first opportunity I get.

Sitting bull has conditioned me to build security bureaus in most of my cities. Now, when I am in a game with him, I spam him with spies to destroy his improvements and place "deterrent" forces on his border.

In my current game: Augustus. He declared war while pleased with me.
I didn't expect it at all and was unprepared. I had been building towards a cultural victory and so I was left defending with crossbowman and pikemen vs. his tanks and riflemen. I won't trust him again!

I still ended up squashing him in the war though. Took Rome, razed his 1 city in North Africa, and left him with Ravenna stuck on Sicily. Normally yes but he will go into war preparations against you @ Cautious. Even if he in the interim goes to Pleased he will still declare on whoever he was planning on declaring on even if its you. Thus what happened to me above and I bet what happened to Steve. |

That's always the danger of a Cultural Victory. The AI gets stronger in tech. Unfortunately, you can't trust most of the AI's. I'm a nervous, paranoid type so I seldom go for Culture. Edit: XPost with 7Sins. |
