  • Difficulty: Immortal
  • Starting Era: Ancient
  • Map Size: Standard
  • Map Type: Inland Sea
  • Speed: Normal
  • Must Not Be Checked: No Barbarians
  • Civ: India (Gandhi)
  • Opponents: Must include Japan (Tokugawa)

Got the ball rolling on this one, assuming my submission is accepted.

In my first couple of games, I had significant problems with barbs, so much so that I felt that building the Great Wall would make my expansion faster. Once I had decided this, I thought I might as well go whole-hog, and include Raging Barbs. Settled on top of stone and built the wall before any attacks on Delhi. Quickly expanded to 6 cities while the AI were having barb troubles. The barbs really stunted the AI, and I had a huge tech lead until I decided to turn teching off.

Buddism spread to me reasonably early, and I adopted it straight away. Missed out on both Hindu & Taoism by 1 turn each, so I burnt a GP that I had been saving for a shrine on most of DR. So I had Buddhism, Christianity & Islam.

Toku was my neighbour on my southern border, and he did DoW me once, but he did it pretty badly. I took one city and it had Hindu!, so I started it building missionaries to spread it and then found that it was the AP religion, and Washington was about to win. Quickly gifted it back to Toku, it was another 500 years before I was infected by Hindu, by which time relations between AI had deteriorated somewhat, so I was safe from a backdoor loss. By this time I had actually built all of my other cathedrals already, and was building the last few buildings that could give me culture, such as Uni's, so it was most welcome.

Missed out on Sistines by 3 turns, and Taj by 2. Mansa must have had a GE waiting, as I had a monopoly on Nationalism for a long time.
I took Nationalism from Lib, teched PP and then turned teching off.

My 13 GA's were split 0/6/7 between my 3 legendary cities. I should have popped #14 5 turns earlier, but I got another spy at 7% odds. I did pop number 14 the turn after victory.

Yeah, I had a simliar issue. Barbs on Immortal are nasty, thats why I built the Great Wall. As I said in my earlier post, if your going to build the wall, you might as well include Raging Barbs as it really screws with the AI.

BTW, I would turn huts off if I were you, at Immortal you won't get many of them, so they will help the AI out too much.

Yeah emperor+ I turn them off as helps the AI more than me I find immortal barbs harder than deity as on deity the AI expands so quickly you don't need to deal with them as much. I'll probably give a GW with RB game ago next time

That is a very interesting idea, I like the creative thought. If I can find some time I would like to try that as well. What did you do with the great spy?

From memory I generated 4 great spys. I settled the first one and the rest were used for golden ages. I stole a few useful techs from Roosy & Toku, who were my neighbours.

I just started a game and got my 1st great spy. I use it at the moment as the perfect scout. It is quite fun to move between all the barb archers.
As soon as I have alphabeth I plan to infiltrate the tech leader and steal everything I need.

1650 AD if its accepted, started out as a game for me getting used to Barbs on again in hof game, after awhile i realised while the capitol was only average the land around was decent so tried to salvage the game. Settled 7 cities instead of 6 by mistake, only got one religion early on so got a 2nd scientist to bulb philo. Built my NE in the wrong city yet again, and didn't use my GP Farm as a legendary like i should of. Over all not a brilliant game so I will be having ago again

Nice date, I doubt I will try this again, but with 70 odd days to go, I can't guarantee it!

I'm getting annoyed with Toku after I decide to try and reclaim 1st Just had a game where up until 600 odd AD he was perfect neighbour, so good infact i forgot he bordered me and go lazy on checking for war prep. So 600 AD, got Music, Philo, 3/4 way thru Educ, 8+ GA already produced, ready after Lib to whip in all my catherdals that haven't been build with enough pop to do it, estimate date is in 1300s and then he declares lol, could of fended him off easy enough for it would of probably pushed my date past 1st so decide to try and get a start without Toku bordering me now

Pulled 1720 AD. As I was recording this, I made a slight mistake at the end and should have won 1715 AD but didn't bomb last artist X_X.

Videos aren't up yet, but basically just 6 city culture with straight artist farming. Missed all wonders except ironically sistine (had to trade to get marble lol)...then couldn't run religion due to world distribution! Still pulled lib ~ 800 AD w/o more than 1 scientist for academy and then used 4 religions spread to me (didn't found any) to gun straight for a culture win.

I like my finish given my generally not ideal micro! It's one of the earlier times I've pulled; recording must be good for me as well as bad .

Part 1 is processing now, should be up within an hour of this post. Youtube's editor is pretty barebones but very effective at basic video chopping and (if you want) adding clips in between! I can easily break long raw files into multiple parts there and edit out initial recording of the terminal screen (I am running everything on linux these days, including both civ IV and V. I think to civ IV it looks like I'm on windows XP though ).

Sorry Tachy, played late last night in an attempt to get it completed on time (late 1400s predicted date) but playing when tired isn't a good idea and I accidently won Religious lol

Toku ended up with 20 odd cities on other side of map as he took city after city from Lizzie n Musa had just accept Toku request to switch to his religion which was the AP religion, vote came up and i thought it was election vote not victory vote, nobody liked Toku who had captured the AP off Musa so most voted for me due to them going free religion as i sold lib for as much gold as i could get

Ouch! That sure hurt! Officially or not, I believe you can beat my date. I know you host immortal university, thus having a lengthy experience on immortal. Moreover, if you look my game thoroughly, you will uncover an abuse of wars, way too much war for a cultural game. Whatever the victory condition, war is necessary for me...

Looks like my empire crumbles...and I don't even have time for game 8...I will see. Damn damn I just a few days of suffering....then then then...*hiccup*
