@All...

Spoiler:
Were going to have to figure out how to kill this King Slime. At most we are going to have to ignore the little Gnat Slimes. I might be able to confuse King Slime while Scamp and the others take potshots at King Slime.

GM UPDATE POST

Nozomi had seen the "mouth" of the things and saw the same on the large mass. She started to aim at it with the laser pistol.

Spoiler:
That's how I interpreted "scans for weak points" and "concentrate firepower", but don't blame me when you see all the penalties next turn on your untrained use of a beam weapon pistol and the massive penalty for shooting at a small weak spot like that, untrained.

Gregory, braced, finished with his aiming, let out three rapid laser pistol shots at the large creature, giving up all idea of defending himself, since he was not immediately threatened anymore. Two of the shots were lost but one of them hit the creature, who was too absorbed in its last attack and success on Fraser to do anything (it had done an ALL OUT ATTACK on its last action and was not allowed any defenses). The shot hit one of its leg. The thing wasn't crippled, but that seriously caught its attention and it turned towards Gregory.

Spoiler:
ALL OUT ATTACK (determined) Untrained use of Beam Weapon (pistol) at skill level 9
+1 (aiming) +1 (braced) +1 (all-out attack), -2 (range) = skill level 10
Roll result 10 SUCCESS the recoil stat of this weapon is 1...

About rapid fire, From the rule book: "An attack scores one extra hit for every full multiple of Weapon Recoil by which you succeed your attack roll"
So in this case, this weapon has a very small recoil of 1. He needed 10 to succeed, and got 10 as a result, meaning only one of the three shots hit (the original success). If he had rolled 9, he would have had a margin of success of 1, which is 1 full multiple of the recoil of the gun (1), meaning he would have scored 2 hits (original success + margin of success = 1 time the recoil).

Example: if using a world war 2 machine gun with a recoil of 4. If the number required to hit is 13 and the person rolls 5, the margin of success is 8 (13-5), meaning twice the weapon's recoil of 4, meaning he scores the original successful hit +2 hits because the margin of success is twice that of the weapon's recoil, for a total of 3 possible hits. Seems complicated but it's kind of simple really.

Fraser started to get up and was now in a crouching posture.

Spoiler:
You can't go from prone to completely standing up posture in one second. But you can act when crouching, which is what I'll assume next round since you are not being attacked anymore

Second 10 (which is a long and tiresome combat by GURPS standards!)

The small blob that had abandoned Nozomi walked under the large mass's legs and tried to attack Fraser. He took his leg out of the way and didn't get hit again.

Spoiler:
Successful attack on Fraser, successful dodge

The large mass veered towards Gregory and ran at him, letting a small line of white milky liquid coming off its wounded leg. It tried to attack him but the movement had taken a bit too long because of the wound and it was ineffective.

One of the ceiling masses jumped down about 5 yards from Nozomi, west of everybody (this is where the ceiling fissure is).

Nozomi tried to shoot at the large mass' weak point, now that it was closer to her and right next to Gregory, the shots were going to be a little easier. Two shots went nowhere, but lo and behold (seriously), as the huge mass was standing back on two legs and preparing to dive on Gregory, the small mouth-like part of it was suddenly in plain sight and the last laser shot went straight into it. A small and disgusting explosion of white liquids splashed out of there over Gregory and the spidery mass reeled back, dazed, but still somehow moving

Spoiler:
ALL-OUT ATTACK (determined) at untrained skill level of 9.
+1 (aiming) +1 (braced) +1 (determined) -1 (range) targetting -4 (trying to hit an area about the size of a hand = final skill level of 7
Roll result 7 (3+3+1) Jesus lucky Christ
Damage roll = 3 (x2 for VITALS) = 6

Fraser used this opportunity, from his crouching position, to let out a quick unaimed shot of his powerful (and smelly) rifle and end this thing's life right here and now. The red beam hit it in the back, a pressurized jet of white liquid and flames came off of it and squirted the ceiling. Its legs gave, and with a sad thud, it fell down and stopped moving.

Spoiler:
ALL-OUT ATTACK (determined) at TRAINED (woohoo for a change) skill level 13
+1 (determined) - 2 (range) = total modified skill level of 12
Roll 9
Mass failed to dodge
Damage = 11

Immediately, in the western side of the room, the blobs still clinging to the energy conduits... lost their grip and fell to the ground, seemingly lifeless. From the fissure, a rain of 5-10 blobs fell down with their own sad thudding sounds to the ground. *thud thud thud*, making a pile of dead masses...

Everything went still.

(-2 Fatigue for everyone because of combat lasting more than 10 seconds)

EDIT: Also, I was wrong about the HP, is the real tally:

Fraser: 7/10
Valentine: 10/10
Laszlo: 8/10
Gregory: 9/12

Spoiler:
Are you serious that I got a big luck? That calls for a celebration! Crrrrrrrit!!

"There is only one way to give 110%"

Would there be a way for me to go from untrained to trained in energy weapons?

"Why am I covered in goo?" Nozomi said while stumbling trying to clean herself off. Nozomi then thinks to herself that she's gonna have to train in energy weapons.

Spoiler:
We built your character as a kind of martial artist remember, so we focused on martial arts and the like. You will eventually get character points to spend on skills. There are a variety of "Beam Weapon" skills, choosing either pistols or rifles. I'm actually trying to find better laser pistols than the one from the book because that one is essentially a stun gun with a weak-ish kill setting on it.

Training in a skill takes a lot of time, but it's not rare for GURPS games to assume 2 months (or long periods of time) have passed, which may happen in this game when things settle a bit. The time "off camera" can be used to train.

Fraser moved his leg out of the way of the lil' blob attacking him and squeezed the trigger, the shot blasting a hole through the creature's back spraying goo and a bit of fire outwards. Glad to have his suit on Fraser was saved from having to actually touch any of the filthy goo.

Breathing heavily Fraser sighed in relief as the blob died and the other ones which were apparently psychically controlled by it plummeted to the floor. Grimacing from the pain of his wound he stood up to face the others. "Well that was exciting, how are the rest of you?".

Spoiler:
So... where's my XP

Laszlo moved to check on Fraser, glad to be able to do something useful for a change.

"I don't suppose any of you has an extra weapon they'd be willing to part with?" he asked the room at large. "Can't say I'm fond of just sitting around and hoping I don't get stabbed."

"Thanks Doc, after I get the engine started back up I'm sure we can find plenty more weapons in the cargo hold or at least in our personal storage."

Gregory took a look at the scene of destruction around him, twirled the pistol in his hand and holstered it.

"That's one way to get out of a sticky situation" he quipped, before collapsing. That was one helluva wound in his leg.

"Doc, if you think you can patch me up, I'm happy to keep you safe for the rest of the mission."

Spoiler:
Thanks to Simon for the autopilot

GM UPDATE POST

Spoiler:
Alright! Back into business! PS: PrinceScamp; your "XP" is coming... soonish.

Laszlo walked up to Fraser and Gregory and looked at their wounds. A first appraisal of their condition indicated that nothing was crippling or major, although Fraser's vacc suit was kind of punctured... It could still act as armor but certainly not as a vacc suit without a bit of repairing. There should be more vacc suits in the hold.

He spent 10 minutes on Fraser's wound, healing him entirely. He moved on to Gregory and himself, with similar efficiency.

Spoiler:
Laszlo has an epic SL of 20 in First Aid, healing 1d+1 for every success

While Laszlo was patching up Gregory and himself, Fraser was back up, wiping some disgusting goo off the control panel of the engine. He saw that everything was in order. In fact, he didn't have to do anything, the fission engine seemed to come back to life by itself after the creature was taken off of it, automatically responding to the fact that the crew was now awake and needed the power. It was already at around 50% and should be back at full power within the hour. Already the power was more than enough in the ship to do pretty much anything in the front hull.

Spoiler:
One of the Electronics Operation skill, didn't quite know which one to use but you rolled under 10 and you succeed with any of them hehe...

The area was quite disgusting at this point, frankly.

Fraser grins as the engine came back online automatically, happy it still worked fine. Turning back to the others he said "Engine is working perfectly and will be back to full power within the hour. Now I can go and close the cargo bay door from the control room. I don't know what to do about the mess in here though, probably throw it out the airlock."

If there are no objections, Fraser will head straight back to the control room and close the cargo bay door and then open the blinds.

When he finished patching up everyone's wounds, Laszlo moved to take samples of one of the creatures they'd been fighting, as he'd initially intended to do. If there were more of these things on the ship, finding out more about them might help to exterminate the things entirely.

As he bent down to examine one of them, he paused to address Fraser. "Fine by me. Keep an eye out for more of these nasties."

Fraser observes that no objections were noted, so he heads off to the control room to do exactly as he said he would above.

Nozomi decides to take a little rest after the battle of the goo. She then wonders where Fraser is off too.

GM UPDATE POST

Laszlo approached one of the small dead masses. "Sampling" was a little difficult. An autopsy would probably be a better idea. A quick inspection revealed no visible eyes or ears. The only feature apart from the general lumps composing its shape was the circular mouth on the underside, 3 inches in size, with strange teeth buried rather deep inside. The legs were still as creepy, 4 of them, double jointed, felt like playing with uncooked chicken wings joints. The end of the legs were rather sharp and pointy, like really hard nails. There might be stuff in the labs or the sick bay to do more with it. (As a reminder, the lab section was breached)

Spoiler:
A roll of 10 in PHYSIOLOGY revealed just the basic, as you are specialized in human physiology and this was a very hard roll

While Valentine and Gregory were chilling out, Fraser decided to walk back two floors up into the main control room. He started floating again and reached one of the terminals. New soothing lights were on. The mechanical blinds were still in place on the dome window above them. He accessed the mainframe computer. Now used to its menus, he saw that, as expected, the energy to bring the ship to where it now was was pretty much all used up, and that these big engines in the back hull were dormant. The in-ship equipment itself was powered by the engine they had just cleaned up, and this one ran on a different energy tank which still contained sufficient fuel.

He accessed the hangars section of the computer and tried closing the door... It worked. Downstairs, Dr. Martin, Valentine and Gregory felt the vibration of the big trap door moving and could see the thing close through the small window, hiding the strange structure they had noticed before floating in space... Pressurizing of that room started.

Fraser then went for his next goal: blinds. He quickly went back to the option he had ignored a few minutes earlier when they were all there, and commanded the computer to open the blinds. The process was mid-paced, a quiet whirring accompanied it. The metallic blinds retracted upon each others, and light from the small distant red Gliese star started to pour in. However, that feature was dwarfed by what Fraser saw right in front of Odyssey, right in his face.

He could still see that they were hovering in the asteroid belt that seemed to have taken the place of the planet they were supposed to have reached. But nobody had paid close attention to these asteroids earlier... Upon closer inspection, he saw that *a lot* of these asteroids were actually debris of heterogeneous shapes and materials. We're talking debris shaped like parts of intelligent-made vehicles, ships, buildings or who knows what. The ambiance was eerie; as if this were where junk went to die, like an elephant cemetery of some sort? But more impressive was the structure that was right in front of him, parts of which he had most likely seen through the hangar window downstairs...

It was a huge cylindrical space-faring object. A tall metallic cylinder that dwarfed Odyssey in size. It seemed old and weary. Nothing seemed to move on it, but there seemed to be huge inscriptions that were undecipherable on the hull. It was hard seeing through the windows, but the number and size of windows was higher in the "upper" parts where, it seemed, one could almost see vegetation growing inside? Except it was red. On the lower portion, closer to the Odyssey, there seemingly were hangar doors big enough to stick a whole ship inside. This was a truly huge object.

Spoiler:
As a reminder, the crew cabins haven't been explored yet

Fraser stares out the window at the view in awe. After a few minutes he fumbles at the coms and tells the others they really, really need to come up here and see this. Now.

Fraser begins to get anxious and nervous waiting for the others to get to the control room, especially now that he knows they are in a field of ship debris with who knows what waiting for them out there. Hoping to calm himself down he accesses the music files stored in the computer hoping to find something calming. Hitting random he turns on the PA system and sits back to listen.

Nozomi, after resting from the previous battle. Has decided to take the initiative and plans to explore the crew cabins. But before she does, she then makes a suggestion to the rest of the crewmembers. "We defenately need to head to our cabins to see if all of our gear are intact".
