Werner Herzog

So far I've watched Nosferatu and Aguirre: the Wrath of God. I also saw his documentary Encounters at the End of the World about Antarctica. It looks like he's into doing documentaries now and he's doing some documentaries about people on death row coming out next year which should be fascinating. I think he's a really talented director. Which are your favorite movies that he's done? I think his most famous movie is Fitcarraldo (1982) but the plot doesn't seem that interesting to me, but maybe I'll give in and watch it.

Oh, you really should check out the documentary he did about his relationship with Klaus Kinski: "Mein bester Feind", My Best Enemy (love-hate isn't really strong enough to communicate the insanity of it).

Situations where Kinski fired a gun trhough Herzogs tent, or when wanted to leave a shoot, and Herzog made him stay only under the threat that he wouldn't live beyond the next bend in the river. And Kinski and Herzog both knew he 100% meant it, and would make good on the threat.

Little Dieter Needs to Fly (documentary) is fantastic. I can’t say enough good things about it, especially since I can’t use vulgar expletives on this board to punctuate how awesome that movie is.

Rescue Dawn, which is the movie based on the events depicted in Little Dieter Needs to Fly is also quite good. Not as good as Little Dieter, but good. Of course very, very few movies are as a good as Little Dieter.
